Well, not really badly, but two common themes about WalMart on this board got me on Monday
My wife and I were shopping there for some basics, and I decided to wildly blow a few dollars on two boxes of cheap .223 ammo, so we trooped off to the gun counter. There, I found the Remington .223 55gr had NOT gone up yet, still $6.47 a box, but the lady behind the counter assured me that I had to buy as much as possible, because on the 1st, all civilian production was going to be halted, due to the occupations. I tried to explain the price increase letters I had actually read, from four manufacturers, but she wouldn't hear of it, kept telling me she had sold several cases of this stuff, and if I wanted to get any more, I'd better do it soon. I left with my two boxes, and a smile. Not a bad little old lady, just the standard issue misinformed WalMart gun counter employee.

Then, after checkout, we walked out...and the lady at the door said, "Sir, come here, please, I need to check your reciept."
I kept walking, looked over, and asked "Why?"
She said,"Never mind", and as I went through the door, I heard her say, "Be that way!". Kept waiting for the Gestapo to arrive as I loaded all my lawfully purchased items in my vehicle...then I remembered I am in AZ, not CA or NY or NJ. Ah,freedom.

Hmm, I think I'll go get another box of .223 today.:neener:

Wait, you mean you actually found someone with a pulse at the Walmart gun counter? Something really is going crazy at WalMart.

I usually walk right past the receipt checkers anyways (ESPECIALLY at Best Buy). There's nothing illegal about making a purchase. Nearly all of them have been trained to just let you walk rather than start a confrontation. Worse case - they call the cops, they get a warrant, you show the receipt, and go home.

About 25 years ago my wife took a part time job at Ventures and wound up in the sporting goods department. At the time, they still sold firearms and ammo. THey had a sign at the counter that said something like "You must have a valid F.O.I.D. to purchase ammo or handle firearms". I let it go fo a week or so and asked the wife how the gun sales were. She said they had not only been zero, no one was even looking. I told her then that her sign was for Illinois and not Missouri. (We lived in St. Louis at the time.) She got the Manager involved and they swore up and down it was a federal ID. After a couple of more weeks, the sign came down.

The walmart in Murfreesboro TN tells prospective buyers that Remington 9MM in UMC is reloads. An email from Remington denied it.Try telling this to the counter crew there. Byron

I can't stand those "door check out" people either.
Do they think I am a thief or their cashier are not ringing up right??!
Either way, I see it as an insult!

So you're telling me that for $7 something an hour, we're not getting dedicated, informed, literate, interested people who do their best to stay abreast of advances in their respective fields?

It's like kids say the darnedest things, only with walmart employees.

I vote to move this thread to our walmart forum, it's OT for general discussion.

Is it just me, or does Wal-Mart actually attract the ithering blidiots they put in the sporting goods department? Or do they actually perform some kind of elective surgery removing both common sense and humor?

Someone needs to go start a new forum that's dedicated to nothing but all-singing, all-dancing 24/7 discussions about Wal*Mart.

Seriously, for as much as you guys like to hate on the place, you sure do enjoy talking about it.
