I have been using a Lee single stage press for about 10 years now. I wanted to move to a faster system...not a dillon 550, a great one, but one closer to my needs. I have all Lee dies so I decided to stick with them. I bought the turret press kit, even though it included a lee powder scale, which I already have in the hopes that it would have everything else I need. Wrong..I have had to order a primer system, a riser for the expander die etc. I usually use 5.1 grains of Win 231 for my 45 acp. I find that the included disk powder measure will only throw 4.9 or 5.3 grains. I will have to order a double disk kit. I messed up and ordered the pro powder measure, which I find will not work with a turret or single stage press. I'm leaning toward using the powder measure I used with my single stage. Anyone want to buy and unused powder scale or pro disk powder measure...just joking, I guess I will sell them on ebay. Does the double disk kit work? I hate to order more stuff that won't work. Thanks, John

:confused::confused: John, the pro disc measure is exactly the one you want. Paired with the riser AND the safety prime system, it'll work just fine. If you're not using the safety prime system, there's no need for the riser. It just allows the measure to clear the safety prime.

As for your desired powder load level, just try the disc cavity that's a bit higher, I bet you'll find it's right on. The discs SAY they'll deliver a certain amount of powder, you don't know until you try it and measure/weigh it. There's always the adjustable bar that's available to get the powder right where you want it.

scratch
sorry, I did not read that the problem is solved

uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm!

this is why I said what I did about the pro powder measure... right from Midways site

Designed to be mounted on the Lee Pro-1000 and Loadmaster presses with Lee powder-through expander dies. Not Designed for Single Stage or Turret Presses

and yes I will be using the safety prime system, both are on their way from Midway. Your guys are great, thanks, John

I'll try that as well, thanks, John

Well I'd better take my pro disc measure OFF my turret press. It obviously won't work!! Wait a durn minute, it works just fine! Somebody at Midway don't know what the heck they're talking about! Can't believe everything you read!

Yeah, get the adjustable bar.

It'll go up to 1.6 CC, which is enough for most handgun rounds, for your 231, it'll go up to 11.0+ grains.

+1 on the Adjustable Charge Bar. I use 5.0gr HP-38 (the same powder as your Win-231) on certain loads; the disks are either just over or just under. The charge bar solved that problem easily. Just don't try to use it on anything less than, let's say, 4gr. It won't throw decent light loads. If you have questions, THR is the answer place. Don't throw anything away 'til you let the good folks on this site hear your problems. This goes for pretty much any type loading equipment.

I have to agree, the pro auto disk is the measure you want. Add the adjustable charge bar and you can dial in any load you want. Be careful with light charges and the adjustable charge bar, it tends to have problems below 4 grains. Did you get the deluxe turret or the classic turret?

my wife ran off with the camera this week otehrwise I would post pics, but there are 2 ways to set up the autodisk pro. either with the big spring like on a regular autodisk, or with a pull chain. it is possible that lee doesn't ship them with the spring actuator arm any more. It would be stupid, but possible. you might try with the 4.9 or the 5.3 grains before you decide you have to have 5.1. it's a 45 acp, not a benchrest gun. you probably get a .1 grain variation with the AD anyway.

I got the Lee 4 Hole Turret Press with Auto Index Deluxe Kit. When the rest of the stuff gets here I should be good to go. Thanks, John

the pro powder measure arrived. The spring is already installed, the lever was not so I did not have to do anything except put it on top of the riser. It works perfectly. You guys were right, Midway was wrong.

Mushoot, I emailed midway about this mistaken description for the pro auto measure. They replied that they will look into it. Lets see if they correct it!?

Glad you got everything ready to go, ENJOY!
