Western Field Marlins?

I found a Western Field (hope that's right) .30-30 Marlin while on one of my occasional pawn shop stops the other day. Are these the same as any other Marlin, just sold under another name? It was well used with substantial bluing wear, but the action is smooth and tight. The stock and forearm have nice checkering on them that I really liked. The price was only $200 with a cheap scope that would obviously have to come off. What do you think? Good deal?

Check the model # and cross reference. Western Field were most often Mossberg or Savage. Some were Marlin.

They were the same as a 336 & were made by Marlin. You got a great deal.

Haven't bought it yet. I'm thinking I'm going to though. I've got a .280 and a .30-06 but I still want this thing. I had a Revelation .30-30 and got rid of it. One of those I wish I had back. If I buy it, I'll post some pics. I really like the stock and forearm.
