What 39a variant should Marlin make?

+1 Flatfender. A takedown with a 16" barrel, all stainless and synthetic stock. Would make a wonderfull car gun. Chuck it in the trunk and don't worry about it rusting. Though they do have their takedown seni-auto.

The Marlin Papoose.

Based on the Marlin 60 action, but mag fed and takedown. They make them in stainless/synthetic now.
