Well i ended up loading around 300 12 guage, 200 9mm, 100 30-30. This was all on saturday then the unthinkable happened. I ran out of 9mm bullets. So i contemplated on starting up the casting pot on saturday But mr Heineken kept calling me so i never did.

Casting guys you ever get tired of casting. I dont know if im in a rutt now or what. But i know i need to do some casting but for the life of me i really dont feel like it. I almost Almost thought about buying bullets. Then i opened up my midway catalog and saw the price of 9mm cast bullets. Well looks like sometime this week i am going to have to set up that casting pot. i need to cast for 9mm and 45 as they are both getting rather low. 30-30 i probably have around 1000 cast bullets in both 150 and 170 grain. .50 cal still have a lot and .454 round ball still have a lot. But 9mm and 45 tooo low. i think i am going to have to have a full casting day.

I sympathize. Reloading is a pleasure, casting is a pain; but it also provides the greatest economic benefit.

I usually make an all-day out of it just so I don't have to do it again. I try to make 1000+ at a time to make it worthwhile.

ya but after a few hours it gets old and hot. I try to do all my casting in one day too. However i guess i thought i would be shooting more rifle bullets than handguns. Well now i have to cast the bejesus to get my supply up. I mean i like the bullets i make. Shoot great just Time right now is short. Now im going to have to spend a whole day casting.

I was looking all over 'coz I knew I had another thousand 9mm slugs around somewhere. As big and heavy as a box of boolits is how in heck do ya lose one? Then I found it mixed in the tub with my .357's. And that's all the 125 RN's I got- time to get some more. Otherwise it's nothing but those 122-TCs I got somewhere cheap.

Hey Scrat,

I was at Angeles today and asked around for you but I guess you didn't go.
I hear ya on the lead. My buddy (and brother from another mother) is the lead Technician (Garage mgr) for a Goodyear and lately, He is bringing me WW lead by the box load: U N - U S E D ! ! ! This is in addition to about 15 - 20 lbs he gives me every week or 2 weeks.
I smelted about 20lbs yesterday and then He told me he had more lead so come over and bring the smelting pot. After an 18 pack with him and another buddy, We had 35 PUCK size ingots weighing about 2.5 lbs each. And I didn't even start smelting the used stuff yet. As you can see, I am still excited 'cause it's new still.

Scrat, I think you are in a rut, Mate. I know how you feel... I get that way sometimes to. I have some brass that I need to sort and file that has been sitting there and growing for the last month now and I can't get myself to start.

Well, cheers my Mates, I hope you all had a terrific weekend.

Nice piece of work jmorris. I remember seeing that back during my lurker searches.

I'm low on .45 myself. I prefer to cast during the winter sitting by the wood stove. I was just thinking this weekend about turning the A/C in shop as cold as it would go and doing a casting session.
I enjoy casting but I don't have much free time these days.
