What gun surprised you the most?

Radom (Polish) P-64: just as its bigger brother (the Makarov, and there is no use in denying it in a non-Makarov Forum) is basically a cheap knockoff of the Walter PP, this little Walther PPK copy is plant-a-permanent-smile-on-your-face-at-the-range surprisingly accurate. Just like the one-hole-making Ruger Old Army blackpowder revolver mentioned.

Worst? Any rifle loaded with Winchester factory ammo -- folks, it ain't the gun!

My M1D from the CMP. It appears to have never been issued since being converted to a D. There was zero wear marks on the parkerizing on any of the internal parts. It is built on a 3-43 receiver...chris3

Probably an old hi standard double nine i have. I received it through inheritance and I know it sat in my grandfathers truck for 30+ years along with his 66. He let me finish off my first deer with it, and that was a long time ago. He really knew his guns, boy does it feel good in the hands, action amazing, and after a good cleaning I took it out to test and I shoot it better than any hand gun I own.

If you have the opportunity to run across this gun, buy it. I mean the one I have is probably worthless, but you can get them for the cheap.

My Finn Sako Model 39 made in 1942, it makes me almost ashamed I cannot do the accuracy of that rifle justice.

I'll bie in on the CZ thing to , I have a 40P 40S&W I bout in 2002 , thay were made for only 4 yr. in total 2001-2002 - 2005-2006 it hase the same frame as the p01 with the decocker . it is the only DA auto I have shot that I like and it is hyper accuret . wy thay only made it for a short time is a question I would like to know. I think it may have been a steping stone in R&D.

As far as pistols go I'd have to say the SA xd suprised me the most. I wasnt in the market for one at all at the time I bought. I happen to see that palmetto state armory was selling the xd "essentials" package for 349.00. So on a whim I drove down there and picked it up. I was pleasently suprised with the: ergos, looks(as far as polys go), and accuracy.
As far as rifles go I'll say the sig sauer m400 I just bought last week end. I picked it up for 990 plus tax. I was excited when I bought but when I came home and read all the negatives on the gun I thought, "crap I made a 1000 dollar mistake":banghead: So while on the way to the range for the first time with it, I was beating myself up about the purchace. I was convincing myself all the way there that it was going to be a piece of crap because the interwebs said so. How ever once I got it there and sighted it in, I was in love with it. I was happy with everything about it, and was pleasently suprised. I'm so thankful I got a good one.

Century Arms AK47, heard alot bad about them but the one I ended up with has yet to have a FTE or FTF and shoots inside of 2inches at 100yrds, and no magazine wobble. go figure

Oh, yes... the WASR 10/63!

Bought it, had some surface rust, but otherwise looked and felt better than the others. Got it home, cleaned it up, got the rust off (just wiped right off), and then finished the furniture, changed the pistol grip to something made for a grown man, not a small communist child, and adjusted the front sight ever so slightly. And I've got a great little rifle now. Surprised the heck out of me.

Couple surprises here.

My friend's old WASR-10 with crooked sights and buggered magwell actually shoots a ragged hole at 50 yards once you use some Kentucky windage.

When I fired a basic milspec 1911 and it painfully shocked the nerve in my wrist, that surprised the hell out of me. One mag and I -had to- put it down. Same gun with different stocks was no problem at all.

My HK 45... Expected it to be a tack-driver but it wasn't... It's very likely me but the jury's still out.
