What guns would you go for in a raffle?

a ruger no.1 in 220 swift. a real pimp gun nickel pearl .38 super
anything in .264 or .221 and a win mod 71 would be a raffle i would buy tickets for even if PETA was putting it on.

That's easy! A new FN made Winchester model 70 supergrade in a common caliber like 270 or 30-06. Its a well known and popular hunting rifle and the supergrade is an eye catcher, high grade walnut stock and deeply polished blue. Personally I know just about every one of my buddies and I would buy multiple tix for a nice hunting rifle like that.

I'm not sure about all the various calibers being stated but I think you'd do best with a more common caliber that is generally well known no matter what gun you decide on. .22 lr, 9mm, 45 acp, 270 win, 30-06 Springfield. Or any of the shotguns. Just my 2¢

I'll tell you what doesn't interest me, when they put in lots of low end cheap guns. A local volunteer fire dept has hosted a steak fry/gun raffle for years and always had some nice quality guns and maybe a few lower end but still nice guns in the mix. The last couple years it's pretty much exclusively low end stuff and now TV's. Not interested at all anymore.

last two raffles i entered.

first raffle was
1 stoger coach gun, 2 ruger vaqueros 357 and 44, and a Mares leg with large hoop.
the other was
Rem 700 SPS 7mm with Leopold

+1 manny
I feel the same way. A few guys at work sere selling tix for various gun raffles and each one has cheap, common guns that many people already have. Ruger 10/22, mossberg pump 12 gauge, cheap single shots, ect. Not that they are bad guns, just that they are too common and uninteresting.

A pre-'64 Winchester model 70, something that shoots 1 MOA at a grand, or a custom Ruger 77 MK II with the v-bolt configuration (not the screw in barrel)! I would definately get a fist full of tickets for that event!

I guess as long as the price of the raffle ticket is reasonable and the gun is one I could not easily pick up whenever I wanted I would purchase a ticket for a wide variety of guns.
In this area it seems like the ones that do the best are concealable handguns from the little bit of research I did when we did a raffle.

I'm with ThorinNNY. I'm not a big raffle guy. If I've decided to make a contribution to an organization, I'll play along regardless of what is being raffled. If I'm not in the mood to make a donation, no gun is going to tempt me into buying tickets.

Then again, I don't play the lottery, either.

Okay, let's change this a bit. Don't think about what audience this is playing to, or who might be buying, or how diverse a group it may be. Just think about you and only you.

What would get you to buy handfuls of tickets?

For me, if it's for a good cause and there are guns to be won, I'll donate regardless of what guns are to be given away. Most of the times these raffles include common household name guns like Remmie 870s, Mossy 500s, Ruger 10/22s and S&W L/N frame revolvers. If it's one of those banquets where you buy an arms length of tickets and put them in a bucket for a particular gun, I'll generally go for something I'd like to own, but generally wouldn't buy for myself....i.e. custom/semi-cutom 1911, PC revolver or high dollar SxS or O/U.

Heeeeey Monkeyleg, are you going to tell us what guns your raffle ends up with? :)
Didn't include it in my last posts, but that FNP 45 looks purty sweet

for me to buy alot of tickets it would have to be special. a fully engraved nickel plated smith or a uncommon mil surp like a nice lee metford,no1mk1,or arisaka type 44.

Keep it simple, the easiest firearm to purchase & transfer would be a bolt action rifle or a shotgun............It really don`t matter I always buy a handful of tickets.

ANY and ALL! i am not a brand name or model specific person. i like many different makes and models of firearms. and most types as well. if there is a firearm raffle, and i have money in my wallet, i am in on it. i do not care if it is an ak-47, a Hi-Point 9mm, a Kimber bolt action, or a Holland and Holland double. i want them ALL. i just can not afford them all. now, at 55 years of age, is NOT a good time to realize that being a gun magazine writer may have been a better career choice!

Seems like, for the crowd you described, a well known, quality gun, with a classic U.S. label. I suspect I'll need some correcting on the last point at least but here goes:
1. A Colt or Springfield 1911 .45 ACP
2. Remington Versa-Max 12 gauge
3. Browning Buckmark .22 pistol
4. Ruger Scout Rifle .308
5. Henry Golden Boy 22LR Lever Action rifle

We do quite a lot of these at shooting events for various oil and gas charities. The most liked seem to be higher end pieces, high quality AR's, pistols or shotguns. For example a Franchi, Beretta or Benelli shotgun, high end 1911's, quality hunting rifles such as Sako. Basically things average Joes can't go out and buy every week.
