I know these "best" questions can be lame but I really don't know where to start and would like some feedback. If you were to buy a compact CZ 9mm which would be your pick and why?

I have tried the PCR and was impresss but what about the CZ-75 compact and the P-01? Are there others that I don't know about?

Albanian,
So far, I like the PCR the best. It was light, easy to handle and use, and, it worked fine. Alas, it was too small for my hands, in the long run. So, I got a CZ85 combat.
Your mileage may vary.

Best? That really depends on your needs. That's why there are choices.
PCR: Cast alloy frame, decocker, no light rail.
P-01: Forged alloy frame, decocker, light rail.
Compact: Steel frame, conventional DA/SA, no light rail.
Semi-Compact: Full size steel frame, compact slide, conventional DA/SA. no light rail.

I own a P-01 and love it. I went to the funstore a couple of weeks ago to get a Compact and ended up with a Semi-Compact. Again, it all depends on what you need.

I have a CZ 75 compact and it has been accurate and reliable. I also have a CZ 82 in 9x18 and it is accurate and not as reliable. The 82 is easy to do double taps with because the recoil is light but mine will hold the slide open on the third to last shot if I shoot it fast. I still haven't tried the Rami yet but it will be my next CZ.

If I were limited to a 9 millimeter I would choose my 75 compact because of its accuracy and reliability. However if I could choose any of my CZ,s I would choose my CZ 40b for home use because it is light, as easy to shoot, and accurate as my CZ 82 and 83. I would choose my 83 for carry because it is compact, easy to shoot, accurate, reliable, and gives me 13 rounds.

I don't think you can go wrong with a CZ. I don't know what you want to do with it but I would choose one for the features you want and how it fits your hand. You probably wont be disappointed with what ever you choose.

Thanks for all the good replys. It would be a range gun and carry gun so it needs to be somwhat compact and light. I liked the CZ-75 compact but maybe I should try to compare the PCR, P-01 and CZ-75 compact all at the same time to see what I think. I haven't found a place that had more than two of these models so it is hard to do. I don't even think I have seen a P-01 in person yet.

If you don't plan on using a mounted light, get the PCR. For home protection the light rail seems like a pretty good idea, but for carry purposes the PCR is the ticket. Both great guns. The compact model is to heavy.

I ordered a P-01 without ever seeing one firsthand

I made up my mind that I wanted a CZ P-01 before I ever saw or held one in my hands. I am very pleased with my choice. Very comfortable, accurate, and reliable. Over 1000 rounds with no failures of any kind. After shooting 91 five-shot groups, my average was 1.41" (center to center) at 7 yards. Group size was determined by measuring the distance between the two farthest holes in the group. No shots were excluded as fliers, BTW.

Smallest group: .70"
Largest group: 2.90"

The trigger is a little gritty still, but has improved and (I am told) will continue to smooth out.

The PCR and P-01 don't allow cocked and locked capability, so you get a heavy DA trigger for the first shot. That's a deal-breaker for me. SA for the initial pull is a major reason for getting a CZ in the first place.

While the Rami gives you lighter weight and the cocked and locked option, its chunky dimensions provide no benefits over the Compact for concealed carry in a decent holster.

Summary: I favor the Compact.
