What is your favorite AR15 & why?

What is your favorite model? This can be a complete stock model from a manufacturer or one that you've built. If it's one you've built, how about giving us the rundown of parts supplied and costs.

Mine's my first and (so far) only AR: a DPMS 16" HBAR with A2 upper. It's very handy, and the heavy barrel takes a good while to heat up during extended shooting sessions. It's been 100% reliable so far, using nothing but LC milsurp and UMC "WallyWorld" ammo. It's accurate, fun to shoot, and very ergonomic. The only mods I added are an AccuWedge, an ErgoGrip, and a BSA 4MOA red dot sight. I use Israeli Orlite mags, which have been flawless so far.

I have three an Armalite M15A4(T), a Colt SP1, and a Bushmaster Dissipator. The Armalite is the most interesting by far as its the most accurate. The other two are just, AR's. Well, for that matter, they all are just AR's, but the Armalite will put your eye out. :)

My favorite would have to be the only one I own, a preban Bushie A2. One of these days I need to take it out and shoot it.
 
I own nine poodleshooters. My faviorite started as a Bushmaster 16" with A1 sights. I then purchased another upper in the form of a Bushmaster 16" flat top upper with a Wilson muzzle brake from a guy on TFL. I added an Aimpoint ML2 sight on a GG&G cantelever mount, a Surefire 500 series light, and a single point tac sling made by The Wilderness. I also added a rear back up iron sight also from GG&G. I practiced with it extensively and then took it on it's shake down cruise at the Gunsite Carbine Class. After completing the course in fine style I decided on a few modifications. I replaced the single point sling attachment plate from The Wilderness (it was actually made by GG&G) with one by Daniel Defense. It is basically the same thing only the Daniel Defense model offsets the sling attachment point downward to keep it out of the way of your hand when you are running the charging handle. I had caught my thumbnail on the original one several times and it hurt. To add to my comfort when running the charging handle, I also added an extended tac latch to the charging handle. Mine is just some no-name item I picked up at the gunshow for a fraction of what the same thing by a major company would have cost. I then replaced the Surefire 500 series light/handguard set up with a Knights Armament RAS II. This gave me a free floated barrel, and four rails to attach accessories. I realized at the Gunsite course that the 500 series light was not the way to go. The 900 series light is much more practical, if you have a rail system to mount it on. The 900 series light is mounted to a vertical foregrip. The vertical foregrip has an ARMS type mount, so you can add or remove the light from your rifle in seconds. This also allows you to use the same light on any of your ARs that has a rail system to mount it on. The problem is that I have not purchased the new light set-up yet. After installing the RAS II, I added a KAC vertical foregriip. The RAS II also required me to change mounts for my Aimpoint, and I chose one from ARMs which also allows me to add or remove my Aimpoint in seconds with the throw of a lever. While I was at it, I also replaced the rear back up iron sight with one from ARMs. I then took this set up on a shake down cruise at the Frontsight four day practical rifle course and it shined above all others.

So, in summary, my favorite AR set up would be a Bushmaster 16" flat top. ARMs back up iron rear sight, KAC RAS II with a Surefire 900A tac light. Single point tac sling using a Daniel Defense attachment plate and a tac latch. And an Aimpoint ML2 in an ARMs mount.
This rifle has proven to be very accurate, totally reliable, ergonomic, and easy to carry. I feel that I arrived at this set-up through a lot of shooting, trial and error, experience shooting a wide variety of other set-ups, and personal experience.

Please change this on this Forum. If we go back to get the image and we've 'selected all' text to copy and paste it back on the blank reply, we'll lose it again when we try to 'copy shortcut' from the 'image'. It makes no sense.

What ARMS throw lever mount did you use for the Aimpoint? and congratulations on your classes.
I must wait to take some formal training and I'll do it locally first.
One day, it'll happen. Gotta be 'responsible' for the Wife & Kids for a while before I start in with 'classes', you know? :D

The ARMs mount is the #17, I don't know the number for the rings. I will tell you what I do when I want to buy anything for my AR, again, this was a trial and error process with some disappointments along the way. I call or E-Mail the Mid-South Tactical Network (MSTN) http://www.mstn.biz/ . I don't worry about shopping around for the best price and all that. I find that I get the best customer service, fast turnaround time, and competitive pricing with MSTN. I just E-Mail them and tell them what I want and who I am. They have my billing info and address. Usually three days later I am installing the part. You can find pretty much everything I did to my faviorite AR on their webpage. When I needed this ARMs mount, I e-mailed MSTN, and said I need an Aimpoint mount for a RAS II and three days later the package arrived. I didn't know anything about them, I didn't ask any questions. The mount was perfect and exactly what I needed.

SP1 because the triangular forarm feels so nice and the 20" bbl has the best balance and pointing ability for me. Makes it almost feel decent.:neener:
 
DPMS upper with 20" heavy stainless barrel, free-floated DCM handguards, and a Bushmaster lower. I'm still going to have to get a better rear peep and two-stage trigger, but it's still my favorite.
 
If they were legal, these would be awesome to have:

My favorite AR is my only AR. RRA basic jobbie. I had a Bushmaster prior that had a solid, non-ported, non-braked barrel and if I had the RRA to do over, I'd prefer the solid barrel. Actually, if I were to ever get another one, it would probably be a DPMS20" heavy stainless barrel flat top.

My oldest seems to like it as well and notice... finger is nowhere near the trigger and I didn't even have to remind her. :p

And by the way, that's not just some childish floral print, it's tactical urban playground camo. ;)
