My impressions could be wrong, but after southeast Asia, the other countries where we were involved also had troops with mostly Russian-designed weapons.
We've only been involved with smaller countries, what observers call proxy-states, so that conflicts, whether during or after the Cold War, would only be fought outside the main countries:
Grenada (trained Cuban troops), Mogadishu (Somalia) "Desert Storm", "Iraqi Freedom".
Panama (to remove Noriega) must be an exception.
Somebody else can add to this or correct me.
