I've been searching for a Red Dot style scope for my AR. I can find sub $100 cheapos, and $400+ nice ones. Does anyone make an affordable, decent quality red dot. The only one I have found is a Bushnell Trophy MP. $149, but I really don't like the T dot it has.

Any suggestions?

Truglo? Not their 1.5X model in my opinion, very limited adjustment range for zeroing.

I've had very good results with the Barska M16 Electrosight on a several guns -- 5.56, 7.62x69, and .308. Can be found for about $80 if you shop around.

Vortex Strikefire

I have one. Very nice for the money. Not an Aimpoint, but not Aimpoint money either.

S.P.O.T.

I have one of these as well. It is another midrange red dot that is pretty nice. Their 6 MOA is more like 3 or 4.

Aimpoints will spoil you though.

Went to that Vortex site, saw the $2500 scope they had on the front page, had a heart attack at the price tag...that's about what my car is worth!
