Win. model12 16 ga.1940s-50s. The action release by trigger guard will not allow action to open once action has been closed. The only way to open the action is to pull the trigger dropping the hammer. Any help on what to look for when I get into it? I'm thinking a worn part not letting action release go through it's full motion to open action as I've had that problem with a Springfield mod.67 12 ga. before and a slight peening of the worn part was all it took to correct the problem.Hoping this one will be as simple. It will be a few days before I can work on the mod.12 and I'm hoping for some insight from a few fellow THRers. Any help most appreciated.

Probably dirt or gunk not allowing that slide lock to work right. It could also be worn or bent. No way to tell without removing the trigger group and taking a look.

Jim that would have been my first thought too but I just went completely through this gun about a year ago fired six shells through it, cleaned it and my father-in law put it away.

Big G thats the first thing I tried when he told me it was acting up.

A fellow in Kansas has PMed me that the trigger timing is out and a common fix is to slightly bend the trigger pin. Thanks for the responses. I'll let you know what I find out.

The slightly bent trigger pin (I mean very slightly) did the trick . The internals were as I expected still clean as a whistle but while inside a wipe down and lube check was in order. Thanks, Paul. Don
