Im trying to find a light tgt load for a winchester 44mag using cast bullets I have tryed unique and w231. starting light and working up to close to max pdr charges. My problem is no and i mean no accuracy I want to try to stay away from gas checks. I have loaded Nosler JHP in both 200 grn and 240 grn with good accuracy (trying to work up a good hunting load so im not set on a pdr charge yet im using alliant 2400) It is a 94 with a 24 inch barrel. I also shoot a super blackhawk with good accuracy out to 50 yards using w231. any help I would really appreciated.the nosler bullets are .429 and the cast are .430 in diamiter.

I get great accuracy with my carbines shooting cast,so wonder if maybe trying a different bullet might make a difference?
also, shooting cast in a barrel 'foulded' with jacket material can make a huge difference....my very old 30-30 would not even hit the barn, much less the barn door, until I REALLY REALLY cleaned the barrel.I mean it was HORRIBLE accuracy-wise.Now it' drives tacks.
Just bruishing won't do it,you need a liquid bore cleaner, let it soak, clean it,do it again.
