Heading to the Police station tomorrow, Class A application, Safety Course certificate and the $100 donation the Commonwealth in hand.

Anyone have a clue how long the process takes in MASS?

Good luck. We pay about $100.00 bucks the first go around for printing, etc., but after that it's $50.00 to renew every 5 years. Are you in a "shall issue" state or do you need to run the gauntlet?

If I understand correctly it is difficult to get an (unrestricted class A) LTC in MA.

I have a few things going for me:

1)The town I live in is supposedly a All Lawfull Purposes Friendly town (does this make sense)
2) I have absolutely nothing for a criminal record. Just a couple of car accidents in my late teens.
3) I have very good Character references. 1 is an officer in the department the other is a long time friend of the issuing officer.

Gump, mine took almost exactly 1 month from dropping off the app/getting fingerprinted to the official "OK" from the state. The local PD typed it up the same day they got it back.

I wrote a long letter, and on the app I just said "Please see attached letter".

It's on THR somewhere- just do a search under my name.

It takes more time than a move to a "Free" state, like AZ! Open carry, shall issue CCW, Supressors, Machineguns, DD's, and the worlds largest machinegun shoot!
(Here in the mountains we get snow, 4" last night, but the roads are clear by 9AM)

In PA you can just write "Self-Defence"

In a lot of communities in MA, you can just put "For all legal purposes" and it flies. I wrote that letter because we had a chief in our town who was notoriously stingy with his firearm licenses. Fortunately, he retired, and was replaced with a more correct-thinking person. I was probably his first Class A carry applicant.

Dang it, I feel kind'a like a thief! I renewed
my CCW license today here in Alabama; it took no
longer than five minutes, and cost me $7.50.

But, I live in Texas. I guess up north, there are no rights and the bill of rights is null and void. Used to be that way here, though, too.
