I really liked her answer...

"You don't want to shoot anybody, and thats not the reason to have a concealed carry. The reason for having it, is so I'm not a victim"

That is probably THE best answer I have ever heard. Even the reporters had to agree this was a good case for concealed carry.

Good for her! She didn't have to kill the man, she does not have that on her conscience, and does not have to pay for the expensive court costs. The guy was taken into custody safely. Yet she was ready to defend herself.

A win/win for all involved.

I did see something very bad in this video!
The lady just showing her gun for the story places her finger on the trigger to rest and even flexes it lightly!!! She could have had a ND just during the story alone, nevermind the situation. She has also trained herself to likely have one if she is handed a firearm with a light trigger pull.

I even saw what appeared to be the trigger move slightly from side to side as she pressed on it. You can see the space between the frame and trigger shrink and then grow as she applies and then releases pressure. Most of the pressure is applied to the side of the trigger but still.

Otherwise she is a great spokeperson for CCW and that story is an excellent illustration of everything working out just perfectly.
I would criticize the house clearing as she was safe with a Sheriff on the way, but it does not appear from the story that was intentional.

Nice thought but ultimately innacurate. The weapon in question is a double action revolver. Not a single action action auto with a hair trigger. Enough force has to be applied to the trigger in order to raise the hammer and turn the cylinder. It requires a deliberate action.

Along those lines though... she also wasn't wearing her hearing protection or shooting glasses! :what:

Seriously though... Many combat or self defense courses will train to rest finger on the trigger. The moment of having to shoot is not the time to be looking for it. It's a departure from what Ranger Bill might teach at the Hunter Safety course but then we're not looking at a 20 lb. turkey with a nasty attitude as the opposition in cases like this, are we?

It was a good final result, but she shouldn't have re-entered the residence until LEOs arrived.

True dat however... In the news story, she stated that she throught that whomever had been there was long gone. She didn't enter to "clear" the house or find bad guys. She went in to assess damages. Then she went out to the car to get her gun just for the outside chance that someone "might" still be there. It wasn't until she reached the closet at the back of the house that she discovered someone still in the house. It even said that she locked the door behind her to prevent somone from entering the house behind her.

Daggar;

Welcome to the forums. Excellent first post. The armchair quarterbacks and safety-nazis are getting out of hand on this board. You are a breath of fresh air.

Along the same lines of thinking as:
If your held up, just give them what they want, they'll leave you without harm.

If your being raped, don't fight, it only makes things worse.

Only the police are trained well enough to handle guns.
