Wonder if ammo shortage is causing decline in firearm sales?

I can't find a rifle that was fairly easy to find in 2019. I keep hitting the internet sites but there just aren't any available in a fairly common cartridge. That tells me that the ammo shortage isn't causing a drought in the availability of firearms. People have purchased all of the firearms in the pipeline and would buy more if they could find them. Go into a Cabela's some time and see how many 9 mm pistols they have for sale. Not many.

Our bimart in Florence has glocks and many others in 9mm but no 9mm ammo in stock.

I've been in a few GS in the past 6 months and have witnessed firearm purchases almost every time and have noticed the majority of buyers were women. I have had discussions with the dealers about gun and ammo sales their opinions seem to reflect what's hurting the most because of the ammo shortages are conceled carry classes. There are waiting lists for classes until enough ammo becomes available to to satisfy the the class requirements.

I don’t think it’s slowing gun sales down too much on either brand new buyers or those with guns and ammo in the same caliber as stuff they already have.... yet.

It certainly could be making people take a longer look at adding a new caliber to their stable, I’ve heard that type of statement a lot over the past 6 months as the buying panic and ammo drought has drug on for over a year now.

After hearing that the latest pathetic a-hole to shoot up his workplace had around 22,000 rounds in his house, I seriously see Ca placing a limit on not only how people can buy ammo (they have) but how much you can buy annually or possess in total, too. :fire:

Stay safe.

Using "possession" as criminal intent is having a picture of gun or reading or posting on this forum constitute "intent" ?

I've wanted to mess around with the 44 mag cartridge for a long time. I've slowly been building the components to load it. All I have left is bullets and I've located a source for those. I still haven't purchased a firearm yet but I'm very close, if I can find one at a reasonable price. Just dropped a bid on one and almost snagged it but it seems people are still paying ridiculous prices and bidding wars are taking used prices to the new price level and beyond. That's just nuts.

People say it's hoarding? Last chance I had between shotgun shells, for Upland birds, clays etc, hand gun ammo for different weapons and rifle ammo for hunting and defense i had a pretty large pile of cases to sort out......the first time buyer is going to want a box or two, not knowing how fast they go, but at a couple of million a month, almost 5 million in March, that puts a helluva lot of pressure on supply! Got a feeling manufacturers are running at full tilt, smiling a lot!

Everything considered it may be the worst time in history to buy or sell ANYTHING in the way of durable goods!!! You might either pay way too much or sell so cheaply you will regret it.

Did not deter me from buying on Thursday.

(The Chipster is a smokescreen, he had and has no hope of being nominated; he was picked just to force Regina out as Acting Director, so they can select yet another Acting Director, just like for the last 13 years.)

Wonder if ammo shortage is causing decline in firearm sales? Seeing very full pistol cases and racks of guns and sales seem really slow (if at all). Think empty ammo shelves are influencing buyers. May be inflation as well. Actually saw a sale ad locally for guns which i haven't seen in a long time. What do you think?

i been buying up what ever guns, what ever caliber i wanted. ammo is not an issue, i was stocking up pre-covid pandemic.
