I'm happy for you and that's a great buy.

I refuse to do any business with Ebay since they decided to ban the sale of bullets, brass, mags and other firearms related items to "come more in like with the rest of the world." I won't give a dime to a company that holds an anti-gun attitude.

Please don't think I'm trying to rain on your good day because to be truthful, I'm a little envious you found such a nice copy of Lyman #44!! LOL

When I'm looking for older manuals I now shop on Amazon.com. Most of the times the S&H is between $3 and $4...

That's true about amazon and ebay -- I checked out amazon but didn't really see anything at that point. I don't really do much business on ebay but it still is the place to get rid of particular items that won't sell unless they get a large exposure, unfortunately... Same goes for some items that you cannot get elsewhere.. Ebay has some nice earlier copies of lymans right now.. several copies of #45 that I'm acutally watching, I want to get them all up to 48 so i can compare the data.

Hiaboo,
I'm sorry I even mentioned it, I shouldn't have put the slightest damper on your happiness.

If I was looking for that manual and the only place I could have found it I probably would have bought it too.. I'm very happy for you!! (how about a scan of the .357 Magnum page!! LOL)

That's a good find....a keeper for sure! I still have my 45th edition that I bought new back in the 70s. It's a little dog eared but has a few more decades of us in it I think. :)

lol-- Archangel thats fine, you didn't I'm just saying ya know... ;) Also, I'll scan the .357 for ya if you'd like that, it's not a problem.

Good buy. I got my first Lyman manual, # 43, new, in '65 when I started this delightful hobby activity.

You will get a good bit of data for powders that are no longer available, HiVel2, BLc-2, etc., but the rest of the info is as good now as it was then. I don't agree that powders, or anything else, is "different" today. As the book clearly says, start with the low charges and only work up if no over pressure signs appear. That precaution remains as true today today as it was in '65.

The last pages in the older Lyman books were, usually, shotshell data and ALL of that info is too dated to be valid today. I mean, many of you young whipper-snappers have never even SEEN a paper hull shotshell, much less reloaded one! ;) So, if it's water damaged back there you really haven't lost much, except some history.

It just lists older/different powders and data that is not available in the newer books and the charges may be different, obsolete cartridges, etc

Wow, ummmm $3.50 huh. Here I though I had some very valuable old book!

Just kidding, if you need any other old reloading books, or something scanned from one of them, shoot me an email, or PM.

What? You mean they have printed a newer edition than 44? I should get out more ;)

HA! you guys are a riot... Also, I just got another manual -- #46 this time so I should be set! 4.00 this time though.
