Today at the range, every time I would forecefully insert the magazine with the slide locked back on my XDM 40 the slide lock would automatically disengage and chamber the first round.
I tried locking the slide back and forcefully hitting the base of the grip in the same motion as inserting the magazine, but it never had the same result.
I also tried 3 different magazines with the same results. It did this about 75% of the time with each of the three magazines I used.
The gun has about 2,500 rounds through it.
I would say that about 75% of the time after a new magazine is inserted the slide catch is used to chamber the first round rather than using the slingshot method.
I inspected the slide catch and the mating surface on the slide and there is no noticeable wear that I can see.
Do you think the slide catch mechanism is just worn out already?
Is there anything else that could cause that?
Thanks
Jonny
