any input or owners of the XDs .40 , I did not even know their was an XDs
chambered in 40 S&W until today

I love mine. I was interested in them when they were in .45ACP. When I found out that they were coming out in .40S&W, I waited. My father and I each got one. I made the "mistake" of letting my wife shoot it. A third was purchased...

They are slim, easy to conceal, shoot good groups, but mine seem to be a little low. I am leaving as soon as I type this to try it off a bench to see if it is the sights or me. The only other thing to mention is the grip texture. It is very aggressive, so the gun won't slip during firing, but may be uncomfortable for some. I have average hands, my father, large; my wife, tiny. We all are comfortable with it. Hope this helps, and I will post an update when I get back.

Update: Yep, it was me. Good groups (for me) at 15 yards, easy to carry, manageable recoil for such a small pistol in .40S&W. Highly recommend!

If the grip is too aggressive, cut a wide band from a bicycle inner tube and slip it over the grip - you'll be amazed.
Experience with these guns has taught me that if you don't have firm contact with the lower butt of the grip and your lower palm, you are destined to group low, sometimes very low, probably because even with good trigger control the small gun has a tendency to dive if it can move at all in your hand. With a good firm grip and follow through, these compacts are as accurate as their larger brothers in practical short range terms, but are harder to control.
I have the XDs .45 and large hands. Putting in the largest of the grip options made all the difference.
I love these guns, and have no trouble shooting small groups at 7 - 10 yards and beyond.

I have the XDs45 and highly recommend the Talon grip. I have average size hands and use the small back strap. By the way I love the 45 and carry it daily. 750 rounds down range. The Crimson Trace is a great addition. Sure glad you like your 40.

I'll second the Talon grip. It makes a world of difference. The factory grip is very rough so I tried some inner tube. I was afraid of the inner tube moving around so I went with the Talon.

I'm sure the talon grip is great, but the inner tube band does not move around after 2K rounds downrange.

I shoot my 45 with the stock grip and have no trouble with it, even on extended range sessions.

The 45 shoots great. I imagine the 40 does too. I'm just not that big of fan of 40 cals.

I am looking at the 40 as this is what
I shoot, reload for and have plenty of ammo for it,
I have and shoot my G23 all the time , thinking the
xd s 40 would be a good edc ,

I wasn't advocating you choose a different cartridge. Shoot what you like.

As far as is it a good choice for a carry gun, I definitely think it is. I've been carrying mine for 4 years in a IWB hybrid holster. It shows no signs of wear. It is easy to shoot well, very accurate, and mine has been very reliable. I think you'd be making a great chice. The only thing that could use improving is the trigger.

Thanks they definitely have good reviews folks that have one seem happy with them
