Glock 43, best ammo to use

Mine is pretty well broken in by using my reloads that use Bayou coated bullets. I tried some Underwood +P in it for self defense but for some reason it did not function well. I think it was too hot. I tried some Hornady Critical Duty and it worked great and was accurate. Other than that I got nothing.

I haven't heard of the Glock 43 being finicky about ammo. I think it will shoot just about anything.

My G 43 shot all kinds of ammo including some lead reloads, however i did not find the weapon was comfortable in my hand as is my G 42 and 19. In fact the pistol bothered me to the point i traded it to a friend for a Sig P 238 and six Sig magazines..now I have three P 238's and a P 938 as welll as the G 42 to compete for the carry pistol of the day.

I think Speer Gold Dot JHP is most proven. Other options would be Federal HST, but Winchester, Remington, Hornady also offer good 9mm loads. I use standard velocity Federal 124gr HST because that is what was on sale when I was shopping for ammo.
I see no reason to use +P ammo in subcompact defensive pistols.

Sadly the only reason to choose .380ACP would be if person could not handle anything more potent. I would not know what ammo to pick for that caliber today. The old gold standard was Corbon 90gr JHP at avg. Vo of 1050ft/sec. I am not even sure Corbon still exists. I have not seen it on shelves of local gun shops.

Yep, what he ^ said. The +P's are un-necessary overkill (you want more gun, then go BUY more gun, IMO).
The Fed HST's are what's really in vogue these days (justifiably), but virtually any big-name HP will be a good choice.
I'd also consider the short-barrel Speer Gold Dots. They designed specifically to give good powder burn and expansion from very short barrels.

I stick with the same load, any 9mm pistol. Ranger T 147g none Plus P.

Normally (always) carry Glock 19 Gen4. But I own a G42 and a G43, my Wife loves the .380. cal. Most of the major manufactures 147g ammo do well.

I recently got a G43 and I load it with 147gr HST, which chronographs at 977fps out of it (10 rd average), which is impressive given that Federal states 1000fps velocity. (Highest velocity was 986, lowest was 965)

50rd boxes of HST can be purchased for $27 at Streicher's police supply. I bought it on backorder and it arrived in 2 weeks. I purchased 300 rds and shipping was free.

Good luck!

According to most ballistics gel testing I've seen, Federal HST 147 grain is one of the only loads that reliably expands in shorter barrels, when subjected to FBI standard type testing. Look up the "9mm Ammo Quest" if you want to learn about the performance of different hollow points in a small 9mm.

I use 124 +P HST's. Though the standard pressure rounds seem to expand just fine in the mini 9's, I chose the +P for the extra margin in velocity.

One never knows when you might run into a Carhartt clad ne'er do-weller.
