Well, there's the length of your barrel. People lie about that.

Yah, what I say to people is that if I'm compensating for something, why is my favorite gun the snubnose?

If I had something to compensate I'd have something like this:

I haven't read all the posts but I think these numbers could easily be skewed by many things. When growing up, my dad had to "buy" all our guns because of course we were too young. By their logic, he would be a super super owner even though most guns he bought weren't his own.:D

After all has been said, my summary is this.

Reporters and progressive crusading academics, who know nothing and care nothing about traditional lawful ownership and use of guns in America but who do blame guns for bad acts by bad people and want to marginalize gun owners to justify gun control, will do a little research and come up with a newly invented phrase like "Super Owner" and act like they have some insight to the "gun culture" they fear and loath.

So if only 3% of us have more than 17 guns that means that you can pass a law banning owning more than 17 guns and only 3% of the people would be effected. Is that what they mean?

How'd they get that 3% figure anyway? No one asked me anything.

Also is that just 17 .22s? Is that long guns and short in total? I might be close to just 17 guns in one caliber.

From the piece in the Guardian:

In all, 22% of American adults are gun owners, according to a new survey of gun ownership produced by researchers from Harvard and Northeastern universities.

In the new survey, conducted in 2015, about half of all gun owners...own a single gun, maybe two. Another third of American gun owners own between three and seven guns.

That top 14% of gun owners – a group of 7.7m people, or 3% of American adults – own between about eight and 140 guns each. The average is 17.

Oh I see, between 8 and 140 guns each.

I'm a bit suspicious of that low figure of gun ownership. Have to look into that.

Who gets the title "Most Interesting Owner in the World"?

I am a "super owner" many times over. I guess I am a super super super super super super owner? Do NFA items count as more than 1? Can I include silencers even though they aren't guns? Does a double barrel count as 2? I need this author to contact me. I need clarity.

I started reading some of the links connected to the article. Some interesting information in the study, or at least the reports of it. Maybe I need to look at the study itself.

Don't know how accurate it is. but some things tally with what the NSSF and the NRA have told us.

An increase in the number of women owning guns. A slight decrease in the number of men. More guns sold overall. Also a small number owning more guns (which tallies with more dedicated persons involved in the shooting sports and not just a few guns for self defense).
