A few years back I was part of a group doing Viking-Era historic demo group, so of course I needed a hand-seax and made this for myself- Thought y'all might like to have a look.

Very well done! A bit flashier than I'd like personally, but a beautiful seax! What does the runic say? My FUTHARK is a bit rusty....

You sir, make my day with every post. I lack any real knowledge of historical blade types, and every time you post something if gives me something to go research. Others too for that matter, but I usually see there post after looking at one of these threads.

That is fancy! I like the "knot work" on the brass bit as well as the leather. This is one place where a "rune-ed" blade adds to the overall show!

Almost makes me want to set aside my plan to purge the world of SCA-ers once I am established as "Evil Overlord Supreme" Just joking about that folks no plans to rid us of the SCAH clan or become EOS. Just a SF&F fan vs the Renfaire running battle thing.

Very handsome work!

I read somewhere that blades such as that are how the Saxons acquired their name. They were apparently pretty handy with them.

The Bernard Cornwell series on "Uhtred of Bebbanburg" that Malamute mentioned is an addiction of mine, as is James Nelson's "Thorgrim Nightwolf" series.
