I responded to an area online ad last night and made arrangements to go look at a revolver today. He accepted my offer of $425 and now I am the proud owner of a 2 inch model 10-7 with nickel plated finish. This is my first nickel plated gun and my first snub nosed K frame. Stocks are stamped with the serial number which dates the gun to 1981. Last year for the pinned barrel on these.

If that is aftermarket nickel you did real well. If original you did fantastic!
Very nice.
 
I used to have a 2" Model 64. Not much bigger than a k frame, extra shot, and much easier to shoot. Sorry I let it go

It's exactly the same size as a K frame...
... because it is a K frame.

I had a 2" CDC (Cali. Dept. of Corrections) stamped 64-3 once upon a time. Unfortunately it had a badly canted barrel and traded it for a 41mag Blackhawk with full disclosure.

I meant to say j frame (right next to K on the keyboard).

Thanx for catching that.

I used to shoot +P+ Treasury loads through it. Didn't phase the gun in the least.
 
IMO the only revolver nicer than a Chief's Special is a snub nose M&P. At that price you got a great deal. One caution, be careful when cleaning a nickel finish, some cleaners can damage it.
 
Way to go Jonesy! A classic K frame snubby!

I avoid using solvents and cleaners like Hoppes No.9 on plated guns as typically to get nickel plate to adhere to a gun they first have to apply a layer of copper plating to the metal surface. The nickel plate is then applied over the copper plate. The problem with using Hoppes No.9 is that it removes copper deposits and in the case of a nickel plated gun, the Hoppes will go after the copper plating and take the nickel plating with it.

I also use Flitz to clean and polish the nickel plate. It's non-abrasive and I have been using it for many years on both plated guns and blued guns with great results and no harm to either finish. I'd be a little concerned that Mother's Mag Polish might be a little too abrasive for nickel plating. Have found Mother's Mag Polish to be very good at polishing stainless steel.

WOW! That's a beaut! I am a bit jealous. :)

I almost did not look at this Thread because, the way things are going, the odds were that the OP had scored a .38 or .357 with a 3" barrel and thought that s/he had a snubnose.

I was de-lighted to see that you actually acquired a true snubnose revolver ... and it is gorgeous.

That Model 10 in nickel really looks special-and the op got a really good deal to boot, at least when comparing prices in my neck of the woods. For those interested in carrying a Model 10 snub nose more comfortably concealed in terms of having lighter weight, the Model 12 K-frame, especially the variant with the round butt, makes for a good choice-if you can find one...:(
