Just bought a CZ P-07 .40 S&W Gen 2--any pointers? Things to look out for?

Mine shot so well that my FiL fell in love with it. We gave it to him for Christmas. He got confused about powder types or something, made his first 40 caliber reloads too strong, and cracked the frame. True story.

He's still not sure what the problem was. Either he seated them too deep, or the kind of powder he was using wasn't the exact same kind that was mentioned in the loading data he found online. It was some kind of French or Spanish powder that he bought back when propellant was very hard to come by. He hasn't blown up any guns since then, so apparently his newer loads are fine.

He's been reloading since forever. I tease him and tell him his first reloads were paper cartridges for a flintlock. That was the only reloading mistake that he's made... or admitted to, anyway.

Other than "don't crack your frame with messed-up reloads" I don't have any particular advice on the P07. Mine was an excellent pistol. The size and trigger and sights were very good for me. My friend at the LGS had it sitting around for months with no takers, so I traded some other stuff to him for it. After I gave it to my FiL I kind of missed it, so I replaced it with a similar pistol, a polymer Tanfoglio Witness 40 caliber "clone" of the CZ series. I got it for $250 barely used and it's a good shooter.

P10 magazines work in the P07 (but not the reverse) and are quite a bit cheaper.

The P10 mags fit flush. The P10 is basically the P07 with a striker instead of a hammer.
