Uses for Full Size .45s

What's a P220?

come on now; I happen to really like the P220; just would like to be able to comfortably carry it(mentally and physically). Please advise and support-

I carried this P-220 often for a couple years -- absolutely not an issue with a good holster and belt. I think it's fair to say that there's a lot of us out here who believe that a full-size pistol in .45 ACP, be it a standard 7 or 8 round capacity 1911, or any SIG, are effectively carried concealed. On the range, .45 can't be beat; it's inherently an accurate round and with the right pistol, easy to shoot. There are at least as many uses for full-size 45s as any pistol out there.

Let's not discount the P-227, either ... 10+1 in a package no larger than a P-226. This carry version is quite packable.

I got excited for the 227 at first, then realized while it is a nice size, it's still harder to conceal than my VBob, shoots worse (in my hands), and only holds 2 more rounds. Plus I like and shoot the p220 better.

So, no 227 for me. Maybe if they made a Legion SAO version, but it appears to be discontinued, so unlikely.

OK- i'm done druling--so how how can I comfortably carry?
My go-to OWB for every handgun I own is the Kramer Belt Scabbard in horsehide. Most durable gunleather I've ever used -- I still have a couple of these I bought in 1994 that look good and hold the pistols securely. Moderate rise and cant, effectively and comfortably conceals a full-size pistol.

Help me understand something. What is the point of wiping down the outside of a gun when all the dirt is on the inside? Trying to make sense of this.

The Delta Elite is a blued finish gun. Left alone, rust can form where fingerprints remain. I've been doing this after shooting for more than 60 years as I was taught. I clean in detail later except for my black powder guns which I clean on the day I shoot them.

While I regularly wash my hands, perspiration is salty and salt is hygroscopic.

I should also note that I wipe down my shotguns and rifles after shooting for the same reason. Note that I only clean bolt action rifles every 500-600 rounds or when accuracy begins to degrade. My semi-autos (all gas action) need more frequent chamber and gas system cleaning but, say for my M1s and M1As, I detail strip no more frequently than annually at season's end.

I use my full size for a range gun. In the past forty some years I EDC'd a full size 1911 or Commander size. In the past five or so years it's been striker fired poly guns but recently have gone back to the 1911A1 in Commander size. YMMV. tom.

I daily carry a 226 in a Vedder Light tuck at 2 oclock. Works fine under a tshirt for me, cant imagine a 220 wouldnt work just fine too.

I also have very easily carried a 1911 in the same holster/spot in the past.

My Glock 21 Gen 4 is a range favorite, and a dedicated nightstand home defense firearm. I carry a P220, but it's a Compact, so not a full-size, definitely capacity-limited to 6+1. Next on my list is a blued Colt Gov, just for fun.
