A smallish fixed blade that I like is the Bradford Guardian 3. They come with 2 styles of handles in multiple colors and in at least 2 steels. They also come with a nice horizontal carry leather sheath, but I paid extra for the kydex sheath. The handle looks too small. But it is designed to be used with the 1st finger on the choil. In practice it works well and is a compact little knife.
No budget, want to stay under 2-3oz with high quality steel.
I use a havalon w/disposable blades for most work, but knuckles and hips, etc is ruff on em.
