Do y'all know of a cheap single shot 308 or 223 rifle that costs less than 280 dollars
My thought is that you have a perfect example of the rifle. Like @Robert said, there are plenty of better options in the price range. So, if considering another one, I would expect it to be the same. A Savage Axis or Ruger American would be better options. What are y'all's thoughts on the Remington 770. I have one in 243 and the bolt is rough, the gun is way too heavy for the caliber, the magazine spring has barely any tension, and the scope ain't nothing to brag about.

Marlin is junk. They are owned by the same ppl as Remington. I see them all the time with way to high of front sights, broken barrel band screws and broken firing pins.I'm planning on trading in my Remington 770 and Mossberg 702 for a Marlin 336, do yall think it will run cheap ppu 170 grainers

Since you mentioned a bolt action, I'll toss out the T/C Compass as probably the best deal on a rifle under your $280 limit.
