I bought some less expensive Russian steel cased 7.62x39 ammo for my SKS to use at my local indoor range. Tula calls this particular iteration "range friendly". It's steel cased, but has a copper-lead projectile. I mentioned it to the range officer, he checked it with a magnet and gave me the OK.
I just noticed Wolf has also come out with a similar combination, this time for 5.56x45 (.223). If you're OK with steel cased ammo in your rifles, I think it's a good way to save some cash, as they both sell for less than brass cased ammo.
Also saves a little wear and tear on your barrels by not using steel bullets.
