Gaston Glock “Lord of the Underworld”

I didst come upon these demonic black things and answered their wretched siren song and have found joy in the handling and use of these things. Am I doomed for I have forsaken the holy 1911 and taken up with evil?
I think not! For I have Cerakote and may use it to remove the darkness from my evil black polymer guns, but nay, I shall not! For it is the darkness that trembles men’s souls and let’s face it...Black guns are cool!

Saive most likely built upon JMB's design of the HiPower. Without Brownings input the HiPower probably doesn't exist.

I wholeheartedly agree. The High Power is a Browning. When have you ever heard something like : "Hey Wally - look what I got at the gun show - a Saive High Power!" ?

Now - back to the early draft shown in post #9 --- Interesting to look at the contours of the slide. If one examines a 1903 Pocket Hammerless and a 1911 , the slides are of very similar shape and proportion. Then we see a draft from 1923 that is quite different , followed by the actual High Power which is consistent with the 2 aforementioned Browning pistols. Odd.

In my opinion the High Power is one of - if not the - most naturally pointing semi automatic handguns of all time. Sighting down the line of that rounded , moderately narrow slide is automatic and easy. That is a big part of why I like that gun as much as I do. Probably the last pistol I would give up.

I would submit the following : If the High Power had been built as shown in that early draft it would not be as fine a shooter as it is today. It would not point as well as the HP we know.

It came to pass that in 1923 the almighty Browning looked down upon the draft of his creation and saw that it was NOT good. He then proceeded , in his infinite wisdom , to return to the drawing board.

My railed Sig 1911 is a sinful abominable gentile became born again Christian by the Holy Spirit

Front strap checkering and sand paper grips hold faith steady, even when overcome by sweaty palms.

Match barrel with flared muzzle allow tight union with barrel bushing for unshakable lock up.

index.php

Novak cut dovetail sights with beaver tail grip safety allow unwavering hold on target for skeletonized hammer to drive the firing pin home.

And God said, "Let there be light" and a bright beam of light pierced through the darkness to paint a red dot on target

To bring spirit filled holes onto every target, reliably feeding even lead SWC bullets rejected to feed by many other 1911s - God is good, even for gentiles.

Matthew 18:2-4: He called a little child to him and placed the child among them. And he said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

So the Sig 1911 begot Sig 1911 22LR (GSG 1911) and blessed it and it was born again in the Holy Spirit.

And brought more spirit filled holes to target, to enter the kingdom of heaven. Amen.

Here's a link to a detailed time line of the development of the Hi-Power:

https://web.archive.org/web/20091130114205/http://hp35.netfirms.com/history/history.htm

It's obvious the gun came from the mind of John Browning, but the implementation and refinement was all of Sauve's doing.

That timeline is inaccurate because it leaves out fundamental pieces if the story and fabricates others.

Why do so many people get the history of the pistol wrong. The errors and myths have been repeated so many times people mistake them for the truth.

Anyone know the name of the pistol in patent in this thread and my avatar? I will give you a hint it is not The High Power.

So, what are the corrections? I would like to know where to find an accurate history. Seriously.

R Blake Stevens’ The Browning High Power Automatic Pistol and Anthony Vanderlinden’s FN Browning Pistols, Side-arms that Shaped World History - Expanded Second Edition

These 2 books are considered authoritative works on the development of the BHP. There are some errors in these books as well along with some poetic lic but the are foundational for BHP collectors IMHO.

As for the corrections I don’t have enough time right now to document them all.
