Well, you have to get a chuckle or two out of this.. It has a certain "je ne sais quoi"
Because John Browning didn't design the Hi Power, Dieudonne Saive did...... His Bible is missing references to Browning's other masterpiece, the Hi Power....
Who's name is on the patent? While Saive made changes there is no denying whom design it..

Saive most likely built upon JMB's design of the HiPower. Without Brownings input the HiPower probably doesn't exist. That gun was never put into production.

Kinda hard to put your name on a patent when you've been dead for several years.

Here's a link to a detailed time line of the development of the Hi-Power:

It's obvious the gun came from the mind of John Browning, but the implementation and refinement was all of Sauve's doing.
So, what are the corrections? I would like to know where to find an accurate history. Seriously.
R Blake Stevens’ The Browning High Power Automatic Pistol and Anthony Vanderlinden’s FN Browning Pistols, Side-arms that Shaped World History - Expanded Second Edition
These 2 books are considered authoritative works on the development of the BHP. There are some errors in these books as well along with some poetic lic but the are foundational for BHP collectors IMHO.
As for the corrections I don’t have enough time right now to document them all.
