And I wear your basic basketball type shorts going to the range in Florida.....too damn hot to wear anything cotton or heavyFlorida is hot and humid much of the year where I wear Wrangler or Lee khakis when I shoot. Works for me.
Most of them are too tight on my thighs anyway
I have some Wranglers and some Levis. I'll never go back to regular jeans.
unfortunately, some of us are NOT kneeling - not if we want to minimize pain and be able to get back up!.................I wear shorts too when it's hot, but like long pants when doing stuff where I'm shooting from the kneeling position. The range I go to is outdoors and you set up your own targets to run whatever drills you want. It's a little different than a typical outdoor or indoor range. Stretch jeans are the only kind I wear. I was hoping to find something similar but lighter material. I ordered a couple things with free returns off amazon so I'll see if anything works.
Popeye the Sailor Man... One pair the calf section was larger than the thigh haha. Who is built like that? ...
Who are these gents and in what country.

Whatever you normally wear. There is a saying in the military "Train like you fight." If your goal of going to the range is get better at defensive shooting, why not wear what you would be dressed in a regular day? Another aspect is you probably already pack enough stuff in your range bag to bring, and likely forget. Adding change into range pants to the list is an add on to make the range more of a chore.
I swore off jeans. Most of them are too tight on my thighs anyway (please, refrain from snorting. The bicycle as well as my genetic composition dictates this wardrobe).
You need to try some of the stretch jeans. Not only the waist band, but the entire pants flex and give. They don't have to have a baggy fit to be able to move in them and they don't stretch out of shape after a days wear. I've worn the same pair for 3-4 days and they still look good.
