Will a coating on the magazine tube cause any tolerance issues, or would the excess just be shaved off?
Not without taking off the parkerizing it's an Express. I'm wanting to hit it with some alumahyde to prevent Remington rust (which I've dealt with before). Considered cerakote but I can't justify paying as much for a coating as I did the gun.Any info on there website on how think the coating is, even bluing will wear off where things touch. Can it be cold blued?
Rem oil seams to work good for the rem rust soaks in the pores, guns the alumahyde a try for the costs you can buy the sulostion to parkerize.
Ya give it a try, I'd clean it real good. That's what I'd normally do, but where this is factory Parker it seems like more protection coating the bad factory parkarization with alumahyde as a double layer as opposed to stripping the old parkerizing to do it again. I can tell this factory coat is somewhat better than the 870s turned out a few years ago, but no where near as rust resistant as my blued 60s wingmaster.
