Funny, 'must look intimidating'..I'm guessing any handgun of any type, when pointed at ya will 'look intimidating'....

The first time I pulled the trigger on these, I was stunned, and the world went silent for a second. Of course, that was with 7.2g of Unique! Good heavens that was horrible.

Definitely practice or train with ear protection. Save the ear damaging shots for if you have to shoot in self defense.

I've done in my ears while firing .357 magnum rounds on two separate occasions many years apart. The world stays silent for much longer than a second, then your ears ring and ring and ring. My ears are ringing right now.

If it has to be two guns, just replace (or shuffle around) the spare mag and knife with another 17. :)

Thats my daily carry, year round, and hides easily under one of my normal-sized tee shirts too. I dont "size up" my clothes, they dont look right when you do.

The draw is very fast and easy too.

What are you getting out of the short barrel with that load? 700 FPS?

Seems to me (you do you) a lightweight .45 like a Shield or something with 230 grain JHP would just as (or more, IMO) effective in an easier to shoot and much nicer on the ears/eyes should you need to use it.

Still light and small for carrying two, though I'd personally suggest working on your left hand draw and carry one at the 1 o'clock location and a spare mag.

But that's just my opinion.

If I tell ya is it still truly concealed? But honestly, I almost never carry anymore.

“if all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail” only in this case, bringing a gun makes you more likely to use it.

I like that quote, but I question it's validity. Lots of my problems look like junky cars and there's nothing worse than needing a hammer but finding it out of reach. I've never needed a gun for any problem I've encountered. But I'd hate to find it out of reach should the need arise.

Only in the sense that having second story on your house only makes you more likely to all down the stairs. Of course it is statistically true, but doesn't even come close to telling he whole story.

Anecdotal: I've carried a pocket knife for most of my life. I've been insulted, gotten into fights, some that I had no hand in starting, I'm aware how to use a knife... but I'm yet to stab anyone.

Mutually exclusive
Not necessarily. I use a Smart Carry with a Glock 26 in it on occasion, and while its not blazing fast, its a lot faster to get going than something in my pocket, and really not much slower than anything Ive carried IWB, which isnt slow.

If you really want speed, then AIWB is the way to go. This is just a "deeper" AIWB.

Its definitely deep concealment too. I can carry the gun in just a pair of shorts and no shirt at all.

Ok. But you can’t stab someone with a knife if you don’t have a knife. Based purely on statistical probability, you’re much more likely to use a tool you have than you are to use a tool you don’t have.

Absolutely, but it's a useless stat. I can't crash car if I never get one, I can't drown in bath if I pull out all my bathtubs. It doesn't mean anything without context.

I do know if I don't have my gun and happen to need it, I'm gonna regret that decision.

Not disagreeing. I’m simply saying that for a lot of untrained people, myself included, situations where you don’t need a gun can easily look like situations where you do need a gun, simply because you have one available. That’s about as far as I want to take this line of reasoning as it’s largely off topic (may fault for starting it).

Ok, on that we can agree!

I just have a couple requirements:
Must be comfortable. I'll leave the gun at home if it makes my back hurt.
Must be accessible with just one hand. I have small kids and am often carrying one of am holding one of their hands.

Based on this I carry a Kimber K6s AIWB most of the time, and an LCP in my pocket the few times I want to be even more discreet or know that based on my activities something on my waist is no good, like hiking with a backpack on.

Ha ha true. But my eyes are so bad, I can’t be intimidated by a mouse gun. It needs to be big and very obvious, or I simply can’t see it.

I’m thinking I’m not the only one.

Plus, there’s an internet legend out there about stainless steel stopping an assault better than blued, just because it catches the light and is easier for an assailant to see.

Oh man, please don’t. I was raised on this logic: The difference between a murderer and a non-murder is nothing more than relative access to guns.

I know that’s not where you’re going, but half the country already believes that murder is caused by gun ownership. Don’t fuel their fire!

I definitely need a chronograph.

If 6.4g Unique from a 2 inch barrel is only pushing a 200g bullet 700 ft/sec, that’s gonna break my heart, because this load HURTS to shoot. That much pain merits at least 850 ft/sec !

7.2g Unique felt like it was going to blow up the gun, and drew blood after one cylinder.

I'd be interested to see, I as just going by my recollection with experiments with my 4" Redhawk and back-guessing the shorter barrel.

Looking at my Lyman 49th you're probably gonna need that 7+ grains to break 800 in the short barrel, maybe.

I don't mess with lead loads too often, just some plinking .38 ammo for my wife's Vaquero, so I could be way off.
