The first screw I chewed up on a Beretta grip broke my heart.

The second screw broke that same heart one time again.

It ain't gonna happen a third time. I'm tired of "screw heads that tell a story," and I'm tired of throwing $20 bills at the problem for screwdrivers from Lowe's that get me nowhere.

Gun friends, I don't care if Midway DOES ding me for $70, I need me 123 revolutionary soldiers in their own footlocker....

... talking about some Hessian Troops right here:

After XXX years that plastic hinge thingies breaks:cool::cool:.
Thank the Lord :Dfor whoever invented gorilla tape, the ''hinge replacer'' hehe

Looks gr8t good luck ! !
Thanks for that. My kit is 20 or more years old and the *hinge* and clasp are an embarrassment to the tools inside.

Todd.

same story, buggered a screw a little on one of my father's old Winchesters, and got a cheap gunsmith set of drivers, it has fit everything I have need it for in the last several years, and no buggered screw heads.

I have an inexpensive set of Chapman bits that stays in my range bag and a much larger set from Brownells that stays in my gun cleaning/gun tool box. I have gradually added lots of spare an/or special bits to the Brownells set. Everybody needs a good set of screwdrivers if they tinker with guns.

Likewise. I was raised in a family full of mechanics. Grandpa owned a shop, Dad and my uncle worked for him before Dad became a cop, my uncle became a High School auto shop teacher. I still work on cars, not because I like to, but because I can and it saves me money. (Put a alternator in my truck yesterday, actually.) I like to work on guns. I take my time, do it right, and use the right tools.

A proper set of driver bits for guns is a must if you intend to take them apart, even once.

Absotively and posilutely Korrekt! I bought a Brownell's set a few months ago. I didn't realize they sold the bits in a bag along with the case .... and spent a bit of time finding the right socket for each bit. But, quality second to none.

......... Thanks for the tip. I was sick of that broken hinge on one of my two gunsmith screwdriver sets. Why didn't I think of that? Always getting inspirations and enlightenments here on TRH; and I even had some Gorilla tape handy.... IMG_0383.JPG ... IMG_0384.JPG ..
