Rather have a 22 Magnum than a .32.
In this time of crazy buying and stalled production, even milsurp .32 autos are flying off the shelves. Two of my LGS's who decided to carry the Zastava M70's in .32 have sold out of several orders. One of those shops sold cases of Fiocchi ammo they'd had on the shelves since the last craziness. It comes and goes depending on demand, I think. The .32ACP may make a brief, brilliant come-back now that thousands of .32's have been sold to new users but, those new users will sock-drawer those guns fairly quickly. At least, that's my thought. If 32 caliber was really taking off again then 32naa or something similar would be the rage for defensive guns. It’s not, so I can’t believe that it’s really taking off again. I would love for it to, but realistically it’s just not there. Give me a P3AT or a LCP in 32naa and I will open my wallet. In fact it’s a realistic need right now that I will be filling rather soon, but until it gets filled I will carry the g42. If I could find a reliable setup for that gun in 32naa I would be all over that as well but so far no luck.
I kind of like .32 pocket pistols, too. And many of these were once military issue for more than a generation.
Beg pardon for the lousy photography. I'm a competent machinist but a lousy photographer.
The first hi-cap civilian concealed carry pistol, the mighty 1907 Savage!
Hungarian P-37
German HSc (Hahn Selbstspanner Pistole, third and final design "C")
Czechoslovak Model 70 pistol (I had it hard-chromed back when it rode with me on the BMW R-100/S regularly)
Colt 1903 - I've had this pistol for more than 20 years and have yet to put more than a box of ammo through it. It's not that it's a "bad" pistol, I just don't really ever think about shooting it.
Hope you liked. Some of these designs were very innovative and keep recurring throughout time. Especially the Savage 1907 - 10+1 capacity in a pocket pistol! wow!
Dang now I want a replacement barrel for my Pico in 32NAA. Who would I talk to to tell me just how terrible and expensive an idea it would be to have a barrel cut for that? I'm mostly joking. If 32 caliber was really taking off again then 32naa or something similar would be the rage for defensive guns. It’s not, so I can’t believe that it’s really taking off again. What’s need got to do with anything?I got a good deal on a used 38 special LCR. It's my preferred carry piece. So I sure don't need an LCR in 327.
Voice inside my head: But it has six shots instead of five... and you like 32 calibers so much...
why?Rather have a 22 Magnum than a .32.
I've explained this before, so I'll be brief but the reason .32 NAA isn't supported is the gun companies will say they don't see a demand for it and they cite lack of ammo, so if you ask the ammo companies to make ammo for it they will say they don't see demand for it and cite lack of guns in the caliber. If 32 caliber was really taking off again then 32naa or something similar would be the rage for defensive guns. So you’re both a BIG fan of the 32s and you won’t buy a 32?I've explained this before, so I'll be brief but the reason .32 NAA isn't supported is the gun companies will say they don't see a demand for it and they cite lack of ammo, so if you ask the ammo companies to make ammo for it they will say they don't see demand for it and cite lack of guns in the caliber.
It's a cycle of doom and it's disconcerting to know that major figures in gun media aren't covering certain calibers to get them more attention because what topics they talk about gets picked up by a lot of people and it plants a seed in the market's customer base.
.32 ACP is another one that's woefully supported by the industry in the US at least in terms of modern pistols. Sure you can get a repro of the Colt 1903, but for a pocket pistol your options are Kel Tec and Seecamp. Would be nice to have a lower recoiling option in the .380 micro pistols like the LCP that's not .22 rimfire and the industry can't use the "lack of ammo" excuse for .32 ACP because, in normal times, there's plenty of .32 ACP available.
The industry simply doesn't want to make something they don't think will sell and after seeing the Lucky Gunner video on .32's, that video caused a stir when it came out and still is, they're wrong about the lack of demand or interest in .32's. It's not 1981 anymore, we have modern science and technology to study and deduce that the .32's are not useless and actually have practical value for self defense.
Uh... no. About the only .32's I don't have is .32 NAA and .32-20, but that's more an issue of lack of guns and reloading dies in .32 NAA and because .327 does everything I want .32-20 to do.So you’re both a BIG fan of the 32s and you won’t buy a 32?
Excellent! Glad to hear it.Uh... no. About the only .32's I don't have is .32 NAA and .32-20, but that's more an issue of lack of guns and reloading dies in .32 NAA and because .327 does everything I want .32-20 to do.
