New SDS 1911A1 Range Report

New Tisas / SDS 1911A1 US Army initial test. The pistol and mags functioned perfectly with both S&B 230 gr. FMJ and PMP 220 gr. FMJ using two different mags with both brands of ammo. So far so good with this one. Over the years among the 1911 pistols that I've had, Colt, Springfield Armory, Kimber, others, I cannot remember any that were any tighter , slide to frame as this Tisas but I know some were much less so. Will it continue to be trouble free ? Time will tell.

I am very impressed by mine. Keep your eyes open as they pop up for $400-425 from time to time. They were originally selling for $350 when first released which was incredible.
 
I bought one last year for my nephew's upcoming college graduation gift. I really want to shoot it! Looks like a nice gun for the money.
 
My best freind has one; I was impressed with the quality, especially given the price. (he paid $350 2 years ago. I paid the same for a used Rock Island GI 15 years ago) Shoots just fine, loads, fires, and ejects ball and JHP just fine-didn't test it with 185 LSCW, as it will probably not ever fire any otherwise. Accuracy was better than the usual GI M1911A1.
 
Looks good; maybe as close as you can get in appearance to an original M1911A1and at a very affordable price.
 
I know this thread is from a couple of months ago, but I'd love to hear how @geo57 is making out with the Tisas. I just picked one up today for $389, and from what I can see, I certainly have no complaints so far. Everything inside is pretty clean. It feeds my SWC dummys just fine. All appears to be smooth and tight. The trigger isn't exactly the glass rod breaking, but a middling trigger on a 1911 is still better than most. Should be able to get out tonthe range this week to give her a go. I like the green/grey parkerized finish on it too 20210924_234422.jpg 20210924_234505.jpg
 
Mine has proven to be an excellent performer... easy on the eyes too. Absolutely zero buyer-remorse.
 
I had one for about five years. IIRC correctly the finish wasn't impressive and scratched easily, but it functioned perfectly for many hundreds of rounds.

I never had any trouble with it, just needed it for trade fodder when a really nice classic S&W revolver was available.

Since it got hot here soon after my report I have not shot it or anything else but now with cool weather I plan to. I just dont usually shoot in the summer. I wish you the very best of luck with yours. Great pics by the way.
