500 NATO cases I picked up, once fired and are the worst. Look like little shotgun hulls on the end.
I have a few different trimmers
Lyman is my manual trimmer and is my go to for low volume cases, 20 here, 50 there type deals. Its accurate enough, probably +/- a thou which in the grand scheme is good enough Im betting. You can trim pistol brass on it if need be. I do crank mine by hand, but like I said, I only do a handful at a time on it.
Worlds Finest Trimmer 2 is what I used to run my bulk brass on, but over time it does get hard an your hands, so I consider it a few hundred here or there type trimmer anymore. It is fast and once setup, its as accurate as your brass resizing is as it indexes off the shoulder. Once you have the body, which is reasonable in price, the inserts are cheap to buy if you want to get into other calibers.
Giraud is my go to for anything that I want to load for accuracy. It does index off the shoulder, so once again, as accurate as your sizing operation is. It does chamfer and deburr. Inserts are available for just about any caliber, with blanks available for anything they dont have. I do find it a little hard on the hands (especially with shorts cases like 223 or 6 Grendel sized cases) so I tend not to run large quantities. Setup can be a little bit of a PITA with the cutter unless you want to spring for a bunch of different heads.
The Dillon RT1500 is probably outside of this discussion, but if you have ALOT of brass to size and trim, its unbeatable. It cuts clean and square, and is my go to for bulk brass trimming. I run it mostly on my LnL AP, but have run it on a single stage as well.

I been using the Lee lock stud case length trimmers for about 15 years and like it.
I connect it to a cordless drill and you can trim a lot of cases really fast and no guess work.
I trim every firing for rifles.

I have owned several different ones and have settled on the Forster Trimmer that uses a drill press. Absolutely love it.
Just go to a garage or estate sale and pick up a tabletop drill press for cheap when you find one.

If you only load a few calibers, I recommend RCBS trim dies; run the case up into the die, flat file anything that sticks up off, deburr and chamfer, done.

I've used the same Forster for 46 years. 11 years ago I got my first progressive and decided I had a problem with trimming the slow way having speeded up everything else....so I "upgraded" the Forster with a 3-way cutter and a motor, and found a way to remove all the wear and tear on my shoulders and hands. I have a Wilson case trimmer that I use for rifle cases. In checking the Wilson product line, there is a holder for 38 and 357 mag, but it's a force fit with a recessed mouth, and a PITA to insert and remove the case. Short of turning my own holder... which I may do anyway, what trimmer would be a little easier for trimming that case? I have never had the need to trim handgun brass.... but I wanted to give it a try and test to see the difference.
