There I was at a gun store, minding my own business when BAM, a gun jumped out at me.

Ok, ok. I may have just been perusing. This gun store has their counter space made up of draws and it’s very hard to see what is in the bottom shelf. We’ll I didn’t see anything interesting so I was about to leave when one of the counter staff pulled out the draw and there was a nice shiny object hidden away at the bottom. Of course I had to see it and it was a consignment piece. Before I know what was happening I was haggling and out comes my credit card.

And after some paperwork I was out the door with a new toy.

Now I’m a huge S&W fan but the made in 1973 Colt Trooper MK III just couldn’t sit in that cabinet any longer. It now has a new home....

Beautiful gun, Congratulations! I am a S&W fan, but I would definitely allow this gun to "jump my bones!. Great find!

Cool find!

I almost bought a similar gun back in the early 2000’s, but the seller (a guy I worked with) changed his mind and kept it. I’ve always wondered how one shot compared to the pythons I’ve fired. :(

Let us know how it shoots for you when you get a chance to hit the range.

Stay safe.

Wow! In Nickel, too! Great find! I probably would have broken a bone or torn a ligament reaching for my wallet.

Sweet! I'm sure glad it jumped up and got your attention, you might have missed it. :)

that's how it happens often times, I rememeber going into a shop looking for a k frame .357 and telling myself you're not buying anything else but that... Walked out with a Colt Combat Commander

I have gone in, LGS, pawn, gumshoe, etc.; looking for something specific and usually, end up remembering a GREAT BUY that went past.
Pay attention to everything, situational awareness.

Sweet find. Congratulations. I'm not a coltspert, is it nickel or did they make them in stainless?

I can tell you, having owned both. Very Close. The same on SA, the DA on the Pythons were better, but both had been worked on by a very good Colt Armorer for the St. Paul PD.

You are a very lucky man. Nice find.
You can spell drowah any way you want! The Spanish for Pharmacy is Farmaica. For my money the Spanish have it Right and so is your draw! :)

That is "electroless Nickel " which was quite the rage at Colt in 1973.

WARNING to owners of the Mark III : DON'T DRYFIRE THESE GUNS ! these were the first "sintered metal" MIM part guns and the frame mounted firing pins which WILL break with dry firing can only be replaced by the factory or possibly CYLINDER and SLIDE may still do it. I had a similar vintage Colt Lawman snub Mark III which eventually broke the pin 25 years ago and Colt repaired it for free + shipping costs . Today I doubt they will.

My wife is from New England.
We met in college.
She had to learn the hard way that “Potty” means something entirely different in Alabama!
She meant “PARTY”!!!
“Pocking a cahh” we figured out pretty quickly.
I doubt I could carry a 4” MkIII in my drawers. I have enough trouble keeping my pants up with belt carry.
