1895 45-70 ranger pt trigger

I wasn't aware of aftermarket triggers for lever guns. But would think it will make a huge difference. I've replaced a few triggers on other guns and $125 is about what they all cost. Some much more. It sure won't hurt.

There are at least two after market triggers, the Ranger Point Precision and the Wild West Guns. I have both, each in a different rifle. They both eliminate the long famous Marlin Rattle and definitely improve pull and feel.

I like both about equal. I might very slightly favor the WWG Happy Trigger. The RPP trigger has a slightly different shape from original.

Note that it appears the WWG is touching the inner lever but it does not when pulled.

I guess I've been shooting my old Marlin so long I have no idea as to the weight, but it breaks like a glass rod and that's what I'm looking for.

Put a new trigger in my 1895 today. Before the weight was a good 6+ lbs and now after the trigger and reduced hammer spring it is around 3. Picked gold of course. Huge improvement for sure. I think the heavy trigger along with early 3031 loads were hindering its and my accuracy.

Kinda high and not sure if worth it yet. Around 125.

I see you also got a Ranger Point loading gate. Is that worth it? I'm interested but wanted some opinions first

Well, IMO, yes. However, I have on other rifles taken the loading gate and relieved it some (bent it to reduce the preload) and that can work nearly as well. On the Remington produced Marlins it was needed to also polish the inside of the front edge of the loading gate. But, yes, I like the RPP gate. And the blued rifle is a JM Texan.

Back to the triggers, every Marlin I have ever held had the Marlin Trigger Rattle. The WWG and RPP triggers have a small spring preload on them that eliminates the Marlin Rattle. Yes, most Marlin triggers break nicely and can be made very nice but they still rattle.
