Staccato 2011s for Law Enforcement Use

You sure of that? How many of them have you asked?

The key words in my statement were "not necessarily." It means possibly, but not certainly. It was a reply to a baseless statement that the 1911 was "happily moved on from" in favor of Glocks. Probably true in some cases, probably not true in others.

How many departments issue Staccatos to their officers?

I guess we would need to know how many department's actually issue weapons vs. department's where officers supply their own.
That answer would likely never be known as there are some 50000 +/- departments in the USA

They claim they're trusted by "hundreds" of departments across the 'states (ironically only list 12 on their page) - so who knows the exact amount.

Anyway, the big point to discuss is the real (or imagined) benefit the 2011 has over pretty much everything else out there. Is the $2400 price tag worth it or are we just talking status symbol?

$2400 for a duty gun? That would be one of the less expensive 1911s I carry on-duty. I do own an STI in .45ACP I carry sometimes and know of others who do the same. Doubtful that many depts issue them, but many allow individual purchase and use of 1911s and 2011s. There are one or more topics about this on 1911Forum.

Our SWAT team somehow was able to weasel there way into command's ear and get the Staccato authorized. Just for SWAT though.

They did a lot of testing and it's been performing very very well.

As a firearms instructor for my department i agree that the vast majority of cops are not gun people and they view their gun as a tool of the job. However there are also a lot of gun guys who are cops. I work with several competition shooters including one that shoots for team CZ and one who has trained and competed with Rob Leatham for 20+ years.

Depending on your definition of a police officer there are somewhere between 800k and a million cops in the US. And while the gun guys make up a small percentage of that group, there are still 10s of thousands of us that wear the uniform.

I’m going to say what on all the STi lovers Mind… Staccato is not Cool! Operator and Tyrant gun now!

STi —— Come back to us! We Crying for a Space Gun with Gold barrel and Laser Canon optics and 6 port Comps and The racking bar and the big Stick 170mm mags!!!

It’s seems the Stacattos are considered the most advanced and best lawsman’s sidearm yet by those who’ve handled them.

Can't you get a gun from SV?

not the same, STi was semi custom, off the shelve, and affordable. SV guns are $5,000+. Sti had guns like the Edge at $2,000, beautiful Limited at $3,000, DVC Open at $3,600, DVC 3Gun $3,000. STi was something a average guy/gal can save up for! I miss you STi

Staccato - Ninja Darth Vader Gun - Sponsor buy Gray beard Operator with tight T-shirts - and Mr. Colin Noir & his GT3 - What next? Black Rifle Coffee & a Staccato partnership.

Can you share any of what testing was done?

It would seem that Staccato has been able to do a remarkable job of re-branding itself especially in light of videos from Vickers and Forgotten Weapons that say the STI didn't meet expectations.

Just a guess but I assume that's where the market wanted to go. If Staccato sees a demand for a $3000 open gun then they will add one back into the lineup. Plus they do make the XL.

they trimmed their line up to what 7 guns. Change their marketing to Police, military, and shooters with beards and cool patches. Bye Bye non-profit Competition guns is the new Moto.

Again I say this is where the market wants them to go. Had they still been seeing almost a captured market with USPSA shooters they'd still be catering to that market.

I’m not blaming a company for making a profit. Not blaming them for creating the high end Combat pistol market with moderate manufacturing processes and deliver a good gun at a good price. Not at all, Just Sour that I couldn’t get my way, so I’ll just keep ranting about the good old days.

Sure. USPSA kept the 1911 relevant probably 30 years after the fact. But now when a shooter can buy a 320 Legion or X5 and pretty much run with it out of the box these companies had to do something.

What's kind of telling is that nobody has dusted the Para Ordnance label off and brought those guns back into production. A gun that had some LE (specifically FBI HRT) interest and then a decent showing in USPSA is gone. Todd Jarrett himself is now a Staccato spokesman.

Maybe as Staccato is able to get more and more LE interest we'll see Para come back. And I'm still kind of holding out hope that Ruger can make a Caspian frame hicap.

Ruger 2011! now that’s INTERESTING! I would like to see Ruger in the LE market with a 2011 style gun at a under $1000 price! not all departments can afford $3,000 Staccato’s

As I recall, Para Ordinance did not have a fantastic reputation. Pricey, poor function, expensive magazines, and not great customer service.

Todd Jarrett himself probably went from running in first place to coming in a few off the top spot several times because of reliability issues.

As I understand it, Para had a similar issue that STI had. Mags designed for max capacity with 45 Auto that didn't work quite as well with 40, 38 Super, etc.

Now that 45 is not as popular, it would seem logical to make a hicap 1911 built with a 9mm mag from the start. Something not unlike the Springfield Armory EMP in concept.

Sort of an untapped market here. It might be cool to make a modern hicap 1911 that runs on Magpul Glock mags. But even without that I think the Caspian frame can be made to run with Tanfoglio mags.
