Pay it Forward in Reloading

I’ve got ziploc bags and coffee cans with brass at various stages. I have Tupperware for brass I am actively working. I rarely work brass I don’t load. And I’d I got a lot of brass I only work a few batches generally.

I have a range brass bucket that anything other than “my” brass goes into. So when my buddy comes shoot, whatever he leaves goes there. Also anything I shoot from a semi auto goes there as it’s found.

I trim revolver brass and I try to keep it separate.

Why do you sort 9mm brass by headstamp? Is it for different or special loads?

Better consistency, with all the same mfg. Better yet if same lot.

I have maybe 10 3 & 5 gal buckets of brass (45 acp, 9mm, 40, 38 spl, 357 mag) deprimed, cleaned and ready to load for pistol. I keep most to my rifle brass in 30 cal cans and plastic ammo boxes. All cleaned and ready to load. I do not size any before hand. The reason being I load pistol on a AP so it still there same number of strokes to produce the rounds.

Likewise. That's how I was taught. There is variability in primer pocket sizes (diameter, depth) as well as wall thicknesses which impacts neck tension.

Plus, as an engineer, I prefer working to a standard process. It makes troubleshooting less daunting if something goes wrong. That's also why all my loading sessions are documented in a journal.

I shoot good enough to see the difference between mixed brass and same headstamped brass. Atleast when I tested it in my wife’s 686 it was the difference between 1 1/4” vs 2.5” groups. Rested at 15 yards.

Ok, let's see if we can get back on topic here.

Seems that nobody wants/needs 9mm brass. Fair enough.

Can I interest anyone in either of the following:

.45 LC - 26 cases (tumbled/deprimed, not sized)
.45 LC - 20 cases (Hornaday nickel plated, once fired)
or
.45 Auto Rim - 142 cases (tumbled/deprimed, not sized)

The LC's can go as a set.

My trainee is going to the range with me tomorrow. When were done im going to give him the App press. I got a universal decapping die for him too. I wanted to put a squirrel daddy pin in it. But can't find my spares. I dug up my extra copy of lees data manual. For him. And im giving him a scale. And lee perfect powder. I gave him my ABC'S of reloading to read before too.

I could use some 9mm brass.. since I am fairly new to loading 9mm...and by far not the only one reloading in my area

.45LC enroute to Zahn & .45 AR enroute to GeoDudeFlorida.
Used those orphan 9mm's as filler.
