I don't know if this is the right place to ask or not but I know there is a shared community among firearm forums. I have been trying to sign up to sell my sig on sigforum.com since last friday, and I am locked in "awaiting approval"...I have emailed the webmasters twice with no response. It is just frustrating. There is a sig for sale there I'd love to buy. I need to sell my current sig too. But I'm locked in sig forum limbo. Is this S.O.P for sig forum- hang out and await approval for a month, then you can log in?

Yeah, that's normal. It takes them anywhere from two to four weeks to approve new members.

My "approval" took about 2 weeks. That's what they do, as odd as it may seem.

That's not uncommon with firearms forums--helps cut down on spammers. M4Carbine.net, SilencerTalk, and SigForum all have an approval process, and I'm sure there are other sites I've missed.

I joined SigForum last year and I don't recall it taking more than a couple of days to get approval. Maybe I was lucky and hit a slack period.

That procedure is useless in stopping spammers. All it does it inconvenience moral users.

There are other procedures that are transparent to the user that do just fine.

Sounds like gun control... :D

I joined Sigforum a couple months ago. I never even got any notification I'd been accepted, I just went there after awhile and tried to find out if I could log in, and Shazam, I could. Maybe you should try it -- might work for you too!

Ahhh; you need to use the magic word!

Sounds like you are trying to join the forum and make a sale as first post.

If that is true, you may have a very long approval cycle.

Many forums require a poster to be a member for 30 days and have 10 to 50 posts. While Sig has no such requirement, you may very well not get any responses, as the Sig members do not 'know you'.

Just my $.02 worth. No criticism intended.

Why not post it here?

^^ good point. As a rule, I won't deal with a single digit poster unless I recognize the name from another forum.
