Ruger SR9C

I have put about 500 rounds through mine with zero problems. I have used WWB, Winchester DPX, and handloads with CCI primers. Overall, it is a great gun. The four other folks that have shot my SR9c it love it as well. The only thing I have done to it is black out the dots on the rear sight.

My brother bought a full-size SR9 a few weeks ago and loves it. 500+ rounds of various ammo so far and not a single hiccup. It's also very accurate - I think a lot of this has to do with the very nice standard sights. The trigger feels just like a Glock (sort of hard and mushy), but the looks and ergonomics are much better. A really nice pistol for the price.

I really want one. Eventually I will have one. I haven't shot one yet though, just fondled one.

I got mine 2 weeks ago and have put 200 rounds through it with no problems, mostly federal with a box of the steel cased tulammo from walmart. I love it!!!! its my new favorite pistol, after a couple hundred more rounds it'll move to my new carry gun. just make sure you clean it before you take it out, had some cosmoline or grease or somethin in mine, after i cleaned it i went straight to the range and fell in love!

I've had one for a few months. 700+ rounds, no malfunctions of any kind. Great feeling pistol, excellent control placement and a better shooter at 15 yards than my 4" 1911's. Good shooter at a bargain basement price.

I've got over 1000 rounds through mine now (WWB and Federal, few reloads) and love it. I had 2 failures I think the first time I took it out, within the first box so it was likely my fault, but after that it's been great. One thing you have to do with them is clean it completely, including the firing pin, to get the grease they ship with out. Been a great pistol, use it as my daily carry.

I had some issues with mine early on. I had the light primer strikes, stovepipes, and the trigger failing to reset. I called Ruger, they issued a call tag, and the gun was sent back to them. They replaced most of the internals and sent it back to me about 3 weeks later. It's been good since then. I've probably got about 500 rounds through it now and I'm not having any more problems. Very accurate for a compact size gun. I really like the adjustable sights. I would recommend the gun.

i have the full size and really like it . been shot quite a bit with 0 problems. excellent gun for the money. shoots cheap ammo and hollowpoints.. no problems. 17+1 capacity doesnt hurt either. i think i will shoot it tomorrow.

Heck--I've had mine for 2 months now and haven't even shot the thing yet.

Too busy and nasty weather out---maybe in couple months.

I've had one for close to a year. It's been fine for 1,000+ rounds and probably 300+ carry rounds. I carry it daily and it has been 100% reliable. It also fits my hand wonderfully and I it's very comfortable to shoot.

Anyone who has a black one that gets carried care to describe how the finish is holding up?

Love my SR9C , have around a thousand rounds through it without a hiccup. Great trigger and very accurate.

Yes, I also want to know how the "nitrodox" finish holds up if anyone has experience. I am kind of split between the stainless and the nitrodox. Why can't they just make a blackened stainless like on M&Ps? So far I'm leaning towards stainless....

it is blackend stainless. at least the full size gun is. i have the od green with the blackend stainless slide in the full size. it is very durable. i dont carry it every day, but do on occasion. primarily home defense gun and for fun combat shooting in the woods. now i have the itch to load up my 6 mags and let the brass fly.

The full size IS blackened stainless, but the compact is nitrodox over "alloy steel".

Compare to how they list the full size SR9

On the full size, it may be blackened stainless, but on the SR9c, it's a "nitrodox" coated "alloy". Not stainless unfortunately.

I believe they make ONLY plain stainless OR nitrodox'd alloy to keep production cost down. I know I'd pay a few more dollars to have a blackened stainless though. They're just trying to keep both versions at the same price point.

Od green sr9 full size

here are a couple low quality cell phone pictures. they will have to do untill i figure how to upload with the ol' ladys nice nikon. the SR9 in any variant is a relatively low cost, high value brass chucker.

I didn't know they came in colors other than black. Is that the only other color and do the SR9Cs come in other colors?

i dont think so. the sr9c comes either all black or black frame with the polished stainless slide. the full size comes in those as well with the addition of the od green that i have.

The SR9c is a great gun. Ruger really hit a home run with this pistol. I have over 700 rounds through mine with out the slightest problem. I traded my G19 after I shot my SR9c a few times. I find it to be just as reliable and way more accurate. I even believe the black nitrodox finish to be superior to glocks Tennifer. I will know for sure after a couple of years. Don't let the bad rep of the SR9 scare you away. The SR9c is perfection. I have yet to hear anyone who owns both a glock and the SR9c to say the Glock is better.

Why did you like the Ruger over the Glock?
