Anyone here see the recent Spy Car MYTHBUSTERS episode where they also did a gun myth that a 9mm shot into ice will ricochet and spin on the ice? I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of pistol vice they were using. It looks like there was some kind of stamp on the right side that had 3 or more letters, but all I could see was the last two "R E". It looked to be a sandwich type that had 3 bolts that compressed blue foam to keep a tight grip on the glock they were shooting.

Any help would be appreciated :)

It was their version of a ransom rest. They were also using the wrong caliber and type of bullet in relation to the original video, but they finally got what they were looking for.

Yeah they didn't get it to stand up while spinning, perhaps due to the round nose, but indeed they did catch it spinning on the ice. I saw the video posted here about a day before the Mythbusters episode aired. I could have sworn they even said the words ransom rest on Myth Busters, and they have used that device many times

I noticed that myself, having seen the Youtube video only a few days before. The YT vid was a .40 S&W, Mythbusters used a 9mm.

i love mythbusters but they are really bad for using one thing and saying its another especially with firearms. ie weapon is a GLOCK 9mm then showing something chrome and not GLOCK shaped.

They did use a Glock in the tests. When they were setting up the ransom rest in the shop I believe they showed an HK USP....

He means they will often say they are using a certain gun in other episodes, but they also use other guns for the same test still calling whatever the original one was.

Mythbusters is mildly entertaining, but their stuff cannot be taken as proof of anything,
since they disregard important things that affect their data each show.
