XDM 9 Trigger Job

I have not done a trigger job (yet) on my XDm, but I'll try to answer since no else is. The PRP (Powder River Precision) and the Springer trigger kits seem to be the most popular. I have read nothing negative from anyone who has ever posted about their trigger jobs. Everyone that I've read about was very pleased with the outcome of their PRP or Springer trigger jobs. I believe Springfield also does action jobs that are well received.

I have a Powder River easy fit kit in my XDm 45. It cuts the reset in half. I left the pull weight at 5.5 lbs. Well worth the money.

It'll make the gun much easier to shoot well. It lightens the pull, limits the over travel and shortens the reset.

If this is a favorite gun, then spend the money and get it done.

thank you for the replies. should this type work be done on defense weapons(or just those used for games)?

Depends on how light a trigger you are comfortable with. I have the Match Easy Fit kit from Powder River in my XDm .45 ACP. Trigger pull is about 4#. There are different kits for different purposes. The carry kits have trigger pulls in the 5 - 5.5# range. Powder River sells a carry kit or you can send your pistol to them or Springer to have a kit installed. Personally, I am comfortable with the 4# trigger that's on my XDm.;)

I looked very closely at both Springer and PRP for my XDm .40. I thought the safety timing was better handled with PRP and installed that. The striker linkage is complicated compared to simple sear with both the grip and trigger safeties. That is only my opinion based on all the available info I was able to put together on both in the XD forum. I couldn't be happier.

There are legal ramifications for modifying a trigger from factory specs. Especially when you lighten the trigger pull. If you ever use your weapon in self defense it will likely be a question asked (have you modified it in anyway?). I did so to make it safer, in my opinion. Something to consider.
