OK ... I know your probably thinking ... here we go again :scrutiny:

But ... I'm looking at these two soooo :D

Which one of these two would you recommend and why?

Do you have one now??

And if so how often do you carry it???

Did you have one and get rid of it????

Did you have one and switch to the other?????

Did you have one and you didn’t like it???

I do not have one, but have looked at and fondled both extensively. The M&P just fits my hand better. I have come close a coupla times on goin' home with the M&P, but have just not warmed up enough to plastic guns yet..

Traded my less than reliable Glock 36 for the M&Pc a couple of years ago...definitely a step up. The M&P fit my hand better, was more accurate and never malfunctioned. As much as I love Glocks, go with the Smith in this instance.

Never fired the S&W, sorry. The G30sf is a fantastic gun. Reliable, controllable, compact, super-accurate. What more could you want?

Both are very reliable, lightweight, striker fired, compact, polymer pistols chambered in .45 ACP. I'd not hesitate to recommend either to someone looking for such a pistol. In fact, those would be my top two recommendations for anyone looking for a pistol with the above listed attributes. I STRONGLY recommend you shoot each before you purchase. Buy whichever one YOU shoot best. If I were buying, I'd get the M&P with thumb safety as a compact backup to my 1911s because the grip angles are the same, the controls are in the same places, and I consequently shoot the M&P better. But I'm not buying - you are - and only you can answer which one performs better in your hands. As I said earlier today in an AR-15 brand poll thread "I could care less about a popularity contest. I care about build quality." Both guns you list are very high quality, so you really can't go wrong either way. I will not vote in this poll for obvious reasons.

Both great guns, but I chose the M&P because I am more familiar with them, and the availability of the apex hard sear.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend a .45!

But between the two, it's a toss up. Pick the one you like better...

Care to explain your position on not recommending a .45? I just found that statement to be so absolute that I'd love to hear the theory behind it. Seriously ...
