What do you do with worn out brass?

Some people throw it in the garbage
Some people place it in their city recycle bin
A lot of people save it & when they have a large amount they sell it for the brass $$$$$$$$$$$$$
Wharever floats your boat

I throw it in the scrap bucket and when the bucket fills I take it to the recyclers for cash. I usually use the proceeds for additional reloading components. Brass is selling for a very high price these days.

Note: Save your spent primers because they are also brass and are also recyclable.

I second what ArchAngelCD says. I make a monthly trip to the recycler with brass, and the current price in my area is $2.25 a pound. It doesn't take long for it to add up. I even pick up expended .22 shells for the scrap bucket. This month's total was $99.00, but last month's total was $132.00.

If you're throwing it away, you're tossing money.

Hope this helps.

I have been saving my 22 brass too especially when I'm shooting from the bench and it's sitting right there for me. I didn't make quite as much as you last month but I did make $54 and that's nothing to sneeze at!

Save it and turn it in for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I turned in just short of $1,000 bucks of .22 rimfire cases a little over a year ago. Like everything else the value is going up.

Course if you enjoy throwing money away, well then go for it.

Good morning
Everything has value... I keep a 1 gallon bucket handy. One for brass, another for copper a big bag for aluminum......
Once a trip up north there I take it in to the recycle place on the way to the range and cash in. Do the same here in Peru. But if you have more money than cents just throw it away. As old Mr. Franklin copied out.. " waste not want not".

Check with your recycler.

Some will not accept nickel-plated brass.

I even had one tell me that the "firing pins" (I can only assume he meant "spent-primers") needed to be removed first. Others on this board have reported that recyclers have insisted that spent primers be removed from the cases.

I would throw the brass in the trash before I would sit down and pound spent primers out of 9mm brass just so it would pass muster at the recycler.

I now recycle all the unusable brass, including spent primer (they are brass also) as they pay better than aluminum cans by weight.

Pickup enough brass and you maybe able to pay for the purchase of a press or a new gun. :D And I am not kidding.

1000 45ACP brass is worth around $100.

I got more at the metal recycler for a gallon zip lock bag of worn-out brass (five or more reloads, split neck, dents, calibers I don't reload) than I got for two lawn bags of aluminum cans (uncrushed). Paid for a few boxes of primers at the gunshop down the road from the recyclers.

There is an indoor range near here that takes 55 gallon drums full of brass to the recycler every couple of months. He watches the brass prices and when it's up, he loads up his barrels and heads to the recycler. He comes back with a huge check and empty barrels.

Hope this helps.

Fred

They recyle the brass from the range I shoot at so I usually save it and add it to their recycle bins at the range. They use the money for replacing back stops and maintenance of the range.
