If you're mainly interested in target loads, take a look at the 7/8 oz loads available. They work well, and save a lot of shot. Many more loads per bag of course, and easier to achieve good velocity with the right powders like International Clays or American Select.

What press are you loading shotgun on? I have more shotgun load data that you can shake a stick at.

One of my favorite loads is 1 oz. over a #36 powder bushing of Red Dot in my 600 Jr.. It's not a published load, but it has worked great for 35 or so years for me.

Don't have or use the Lee Load All but didn't it come with a load data sheet or did you not find there data sheet fitted your particular needs.

Below is some pretty standard loads that get you 1300 fps or better. Those are obviously just the tip of the ice berg, considering I just barely hit on Alliant 1 1/8 oz. AA data. There is lots more where that came from.

1 1/8 oz. load:
AA hull
WWAA12 wad
Below are the primer and powder match ups for your hull, wad and 1 1/8 oz. shot weight. If your looking for a different shot weight let me know and I'll get you the data. I have a bunch.

With a Win.209 primer use one of the powders charges as follows:

25.5 grs. Unique, 26.5 grs. Herco

With a Fed 209 primer:
24.5 grs. Unique

With a Rem. 209P:
26.0 grs. Unique, 27.0 Herco

With a CCI209M:
25.5 grs. Unique

I also have powder bushing charts for just about anything out there, so let me know if you need me to find a bushing for a certain powder charge.

Lots of recoil with 1300 fps loads even if pushing only 1 oz of shot. Shooting an auto loader is more forgiving on the shoulder. After you shoot 100 birds, you will see what i mean. Shooting handicap at 27 yards will require 1200 fps & 1 1/8 oz of # 8 shot.

Although a bit under your 1300 fps criteria, here are some 1 1/8 oz loads I chronographed, using my 28" Beretta Onyx O/U as the test bed that should give you some idea of real numbers, and what you might work up higher, data permitting. AA cases used were the very old (best IMO) red compression formed ones from the 70's-early 80's. The second generation CF hulls were not up to snuff IMO, and the multi-piece Reifenhauser style AA hulls I have been used too, but I really don't like reloading them near as well, and will use the STS type if given a choice.

AA Cases, WW 209 primers, WT-12 wad, 1 1/8 oz Magnum 7 1/2 shot:

25 grains Unique 1279 fps

20.5 grains International Clays 1251 fps

Remington Nitro 27 case, WW 209 primers, Figure 8 wad, 1 1/8 oz Magnum shot:

20.5 grains International Clays 1265 fps

Remington Nitro 27 case, WW 209 primers, WW WT-12 wad, 1 1/8 oz Magnum shot:

20.5 grains International Clays 1274 fps

Of course results can vary by propellant lot and other factors. These loads are my go to for Dove hunting, they pattern well, and hit with authority. If cleanliness matters, the International Clays loads are nearly fouling free, not so for Unique, but MUCH better than similar/faster loads developed with HS-6.

Since you said you were new at reloading shotgun shells I figured it would be a good idea to mention this. Shotgun shells aren't as forgiving as rifle and hangun cartridges when it comes to mixing and matching components. Don't assume wads or cases can be substituted.

I've never reloaded for shotgun, but have gleaned that from reading about it. If I'm wrong I hope someone corrects me.

Both Alliant and Hodgdon have PUBLISHED data that has been tested and verified - Follow the recipes and you'll be fine; follow someone untested, unverified data from the internet, you take your chances
