why does the beretta nano have a replaceable grip

I've looked at the features and "replacable grip" isn't mentioned. Where did you see this mentioned? It looks like the backstrap could be changable by removing the top pin but Beretta isn't touting this as far as I can tell.
 
A replaceable grip is very much mentioned in their ad, site, and youtube video...no. Not backstrap. There isn't one.

Are they going coming out with a larger frame to put the whole mechanism into?
 
oh my goodness. I literally am the only one that noticed this? Can't find an answer. Hehehe how did people not see this?
 
I think by "removable grip", you meant to say removable sub-chassis, and yes, it has been noticed and discussed. The sub-chassis, I believe, is the internal firing mechanism "guts". The grip frame can be swapped out (I'm assuming for larger or smaller frames, different calibers, etc.), but "grip" usually refers to just the part of the gun you put your hand around (as in grip panels). Most handguns these days have a grip frame that includes the entire bottom half of the gun.

On the Nano, the sub-chassis will be the serialized part, so you can swap out different grip frames and barrels, while using the same sub-chassis that sits inside of the frame. Beretta has already mentioned the Nano being offered in .40 S&W in the future, so I'm guessing this is where all of this switching around will come in. Maybe they'll offer larger grip frames for more control and magazine capacity, longer slides and barrels, etc. We'll have to wait and see what they have in store for this new little guy.

I'm a big Beretta fan... but I will never buy this thing. It looks like something Taurus would make - Like a 'Millennium Pro' knockoff.

The subchassis is the non-serialized version of the gun. This means that you can get entire new "guns" out of the original one. Imagine different colors, integrated lasers, different sizes and even (possibly) different calibers!... The possibilities are endless.
