Two separate questions actually. I'm liking the idea of a 9mm carbine with a suppressor that I can also use on a handgun. So something like the AAC Ti-RANT, would it mount to the rifle with or without the booster? The other question as the title states one for the M4 carbines. I know there are a lot of threads and other forums with good info on these, but I didn't realize how many options are out there until I started looking around. There are manufacturers that I've never even heard of like Liberty Cans? MGSS? Quicksilver? Type 5? Griffin Armament? Those I've never heard of on top of all the usual names out there. So my question boils down to this, what do you guys think is a good .223 suppressor at a price point of about $500. I'm not so concerned about weight, balance, and size as I am about good construction and sound suppression.
 
The Ti-Rant has a booster built into the back of the suppressor. I believe you just remove the spring, and replace it with a spacer to make it a "rigid mount" for your rifle.

Liberty cans are great. I have a mystic and love it. It's a versatile can for sure. I have heard a Griffin Armament Suppressor, and for the price, it's a solid product.
 
Thanks. I didn't know if the booster is removed and the rest of the can is attachable from that point on. YHM seems to get a bad rep recently. Is it because they are just still producing old stacked baffle designs as opposed to the popular monocore cans?
 
If you're not worried about weight YHM is fine. Just remember you set a $500 limit. Do you need QD capability? The Gemtech G5 or Trek with standard threads is around $500ish.

My only gripe with my YHM is POI shift. At 50 yards it will move it 2" up and 1" left. Not a big deal because its repeatable and predictable. I just need to remember to adjust my scope. This is with the .308 can on a 20" AR-15. I don't know if that's a factor.

My Halo hasn't shifted POI but I have only used it on an SBR. It does sound quieter to the ear at my indoor range.

Weight is not a concern and I don't need QD mounting. When I started looking around recently I found a few 5.56 cans in the $500 range (YHM Phantom, Liberty Torch) so I figured that would be my budget. I know that money can always buy lighter weight materials and innovative designs like monocores and QD attachment. They are worth the added cost, but I just want another suppressor. Going from $500 up to $600 isn't a problem either.
 
Now that I've been looking for these, I'm finding at this price point the Torch, TAC 16, Gemtech TREK, AAC Ranger, HTG Aris, Thompson SIXTEEN, and Phantom. So for those familiar with any of these models, please comment. Anyone know of another model?

Know nothing about the mount. I only have a Rimfire suppressor. It is a Liberty Kodiak. It is quieter than my friend YHM and Spectre.

Great outfit and a super company to talk to and buy from. Very Highly recommended.
 
I have the steel YH Phantom in 5.56 with QD. Personally, i regret not going for something lighter. It actually works great with my MSAR but makes AR's and other non-bullpups way too front heavy. I got it for a great price but when you consider they all come with a $200 tax stamp it's better to buy the most versatile can to begin with.
 
Having a quick detach was something I had to have. I chose a TBA suppressor for an SBR build. IT's about an inch longer than just about every other suppressor on the market, but it is supposed to have zero shift in the point-of-impact.
 
Well weight has become a significant factor even though I don't have much experience with 223 suppressors. Just by looking at this small list of products I can surely say that I'd rather have a lighter can if at a comparable price. This puts the TREK and the Ranger at a big advantage over the entire crowd. What I think is outstanding is that AAC has been able to significantly cut the weight of the Ranger with each "generation" that it has released. Right now the Ranger 3 is just over 13 ounces and that one alone wipes the rest of the competition away. I believe one version of the Phantom is right about twice that weight! I contacted the local title II dealer here and he has some on the way. Done deal for me.
 
It's been over a year now. Looks like it is no longer such a done deal after all. So over the past year I have not been able to get the can that I wanted. Liberty has also corrected some slip-ups by restating that some cans are not actually full auto rated. This is why I don't ever want to buy a can from a "new company". They need time to figure out how to make suppressors. I definitely don't see the huge value in QD attached cans that command the market. So many "run of the mill" .223 thread on suppressors weigh close to 2 pounds that they are easy to eliminate. At this point I think I will try and find a TREK because I'm tired of waiting!

I went with the Liberty Torch QA, silencershop.com has them in stock. The can weighs 20oz. And I bought a second QA mount for one of my other AR's. still waiting on the stamp but should have a range report in about 2 months.
 
A $500 price point is on the lower side for a .223 can. Especially if you have to buy a mount. I'd look at the SWR Specwar. Getting rave reviews and is very comparable to the M4-2000 and Saker. The Surefire SOCOM cans are nice, but way expensive.
 
ive got a Griffin Armament coming soon... hopefully within the next 2 months. i have yet to mount it or really play with it. im skeptical about the lock-up on it. im hoping its tight though.
