Black Talon 180gr .40 ammo

The misconception that black talons are "banned" or "illegal" is getting somewhat silly. It isn't illegal, it is obsolete and the victim of two things:
1- a media campaign so ignorant that it stands out in with decades of ignorant reporting by lazy ignorant reporters
2- idiots at gunshows selling their partial boxes at grossly inflated prices under the false flag of "banned super-deadly ammo"

Ship just like any other ammunition, if you can find a sucker.

Absolutely legal to sell!! bigfatdave is right on with his reply. Put the ammo on one of the auction sites - I sold some 10mm Black Talons for $50.00 a box a couple of years ago - you should have no trouble selling it.

I'd keep a box, just for sheer novelty.

I'd sell it since people seem to pay big $ for it on auction sites. Replace it with modern (better performing) ammo.

it is legal to sell...infact they still make them just a new name...the ranger talons and the winchester supreme elite pdx-1...same bullet just not black and silver

So true. I have indeed seen this many times at gunshows as well as on-line broker sites. Didn't P.T. Barnum have something to say about such things?

Novelty is the only reason I can see for even owning this stuff these days.

While I don't doubt he was trying to get $100 for it, I'm pretty sure he never got that. They bring anywhere from $35-40 at local gun shows.

That said, if you want to sell a box or two of it, let me know and I may be interested.

Great hunting bullet. If I owned those, I'd pull the bullets and load them in 10s.

I wish I still had all the old Black Talon lead I've sent down range over the years. lulz - there is plenty of "just as good" or even better stuff out there these days .... but by gosh, that Black Talon has grown legs of its own. Urban myth has it ripping gaping holes in cops through their vests and plates and big enough to drive a truck through.

I have several boxes of the original loadings I likely will never sell or shoot. The marginal gain from selling them is not going to buy a significant amount ammunition.

Mine take up very little space, don't require constant feeding and attention and I hand load 99.999% of all I shoot. Why sell them?

Who knows, one day on "Antiques Road Show" they may bring a premium price.

Kyarcher, I don't believe those are "T" series JHPs. It's much like the .38special 110gr +P+ Winchester rangers where they are non-talon (but not necessarily less effective). I'm sure they are quite fine for defensive use.

Yeah, they're about 3 generations improved. LOL They've been updated/improved a few times since their debut.

PDX1 is a bonded round and completely different. Ranger T is the same thing without the coating. Get Ranger T and sell the Talons.

Good call snotty...the ranger talon released in 2007 with the pdx-1 comming in 2009 and the difference being its bonded...also seen a article stating the pdx1 is the bullet of choice for FBI ..not sure how accurate that info is
